2in. drop shackle instead of a 2in lvl kit?

Is there a reason I can't drop the back down on my 09 FX4 instead of raise the front up??

I am not looking to off-road ever. I just like the 4x4 for the MN winters.

I am also looking to put more of a street rim and tire set up for summer only on.

So can I just drop the back and add a helper spring or just drop it a lot and add a leaf? I want to maintain the hauling ability.

Doesn't it have 2" blocks in the rear? Just remove the blocks.

just dropping the block would be better than the shackle but if the block isn't enough then get a shackle

To answer part of your question, I think a 2" drop in the rear is better for several reasons. The spacers in the front can cause wear on the front end, and I think it requires an alignment. Dropping the rear will help gas mileage slightly where lifting the front will hurt it slightly.

Yes, you get the ubolts for a 4X2. Easy to do and easily undone should you want to later.

Thanks guys.
What about a helper spring? This is more so I don't sag while hauling a small load.

I would not mess with it. I don't think you will even notice it. I have 2" drop shackles on my 4x2 and I don't notice it.
