rcd 5 inch lift

i received part of my lift kit today still waiting on the rear add a leaf and hardware. i was reading the booklet they gave me and it says specail tools needed. one is a torsion bar tool, i looked up the prices on these things there either around or above 100 bucks for one. i was wondering is ther any other way to get around that or could i go to autozone, autovalue and see if i can rent one? and the other tool is a pitman arm puller wich i have or could get my hands on one plus there cheaper than the torsion bar tool. i was just wondering is there any way i could get away from spending over 100 bucks for a tool ill use once. thanks guys

I know a lot of people have used a large c-clamp instead of the torsion bar removal tool. You can probably rent all of the tools you don't have.

How much was the RCD lift if you don't mind me asking? I am looking into getting one too for my '03 F150. Did you get from NTW Online?

^^^what they said. The torsion tool should be rentable from any good tool store if you don't want to buy one. I have also heard of using the c-clamp but a BIG word of <<<<CAUTION>>>>, these torsion bars are under alot of stress and I have seen broken C-clamps from trying to do it that way. And they weren't little clamps either. I'm not your mother, but if you can find a torsion tool to rent do it. It may cost you a little to get it but how much is your life worth if a clamp breaks and come flyin out of there or the torsion key comes out.... Its always a good idea to use the proper tool no matter the job

1nascarfan- i pain $1200 for the lift from NTW online. seems like a great kit, you dont get all the boxes at once. other than that real quick will order from them next time.

jdlowesracer- i agree im going to do it right but i found a shop around me that will install it for a reasonable price, so im thinking on haveing them do it.

I am so glad I saw this post. I am going to order the RCD lift for my truck today. Was it in the "Suspension Special" section on NTW Online? I can't wait to see the pictures of your truck.

Who did you talk to at NTW or order it online? The one in the suspension special section says rear blocks. Did yours come with the rear add a leaf? Please post some pictures when your truck is finished. I am sure it will look great!

I've heard of auto part stores "renting" parts like that out. Pretty much a used one, that previous people have used, you just pay full price, then return for full price once finished.
That way, they don't have used parts on the shelf. Call the local shops and see if they have one.
