6in kit

I got a 02 f150. I am wanting to put it on 35x14.50x16 but It is hard to find a tire that size. What is the best 6 inch kit on the market for the price. The local shop is stuck on BDS Is there anything out there that is better or the same for a cheaper price. I am also wanting to do a 1 or 2 inch torsion bar lift and either a leaf or a box in the rear to get about 8inchs of lift. Just need some info thanks.

Just a thought man, but i think you are going to need a bigger lift to fit 55 inch tires... unless that's a typo!

The 6 inch Fabtech or BDS would be great choices. You will have to crank up the torsion bars and do some trimming to fit a 14.50 inch wide 35.

I talk to a guy at BDS and he said if I was to raise the torsion bars up with the lift it will wear out all kinds of stuff really fast is that true?

depends on how much you crank them.

if you just crank them alittle you wont notice and difference in parts wearing.

but if you crank them all the way up you will notice some accelarated wear.

I ran my stock torsion bar adjustment keys all the way cranked for about 50k miles (which equalled 120k on the truck) before replacing my ball joints

I agree.
Also, I ran my torsion bars at stock height and had to replace my ball joints at 60,000 miles to give you a comparison to running them cranked up.

Stay away form the reindexed torsion bar adjustment keys. They will destroy your front end. They just allow you to put way, way too much preload on the torsion bars which destroys your ride quality and will create extreme CV and ball joint angles.

Either crank up the torsion bars with the OEM keys and be careful on wheel choice or add a 3 inch Performance Accessories body lift.

I am gonna order the 6in bds kit and just run 35's for now what is a good offset and backspace for the rims. And I am btw the BF Goodrich a/t and the nitto grapplertires.

I'd suggest a 10 inch wide wheel with 4.5 inches of backspacing. This is a pretty common spec for 97-03 wheels.
