Is a wheel-aligignment necessary after installing the BILSTEIN 5100's if the tires are "stock"?

and shockwarehouse.com is where I just ordered my BILSTEIN's........

Yes, a wheel alignment is a must even if the tires are stock...

Well the 5100 installation was a bomb. No go. Spring compressor was not good enough so off to my mechanic to do the work.

Do you compress the spring before removing the whole assembly??

Have an appointment on wed. morning to have them done. Mechanic said no problem to wait while they do the shocks. He said it calls for one hour per side. Should be good to go then. I have an awesome mechanic.

After searching the net there are not really any good pics or videos for step by step removal/install of strut assemblies.

Not sure. I think he charges $75.00/hour and he said an hour per side. $150.00 for 4 shocks installed.

Sounds like a lot but beats me rolling around taking all day if I had the proper spring compressor.

I'm posting from the mechanic shop. Front shocks were totally worn out at 30k miles. Had to drop lowr control arms to get struts out. Rear shocks very weak. The 5100's are really gonna make a difference knowing factory shcks were shot.

Back from the dealer getting alignment.

Truck drives great, sets level and looks great!

Not sure how you guys that install the 5100's yourself do it with out dropping lower control arm. (had not heard any talk of it) I was at the mechanic shop and saw first hand...there was NO way to get that strut out with out dropping lower arm first. Install start to finish was 2 Hrs. 35 min.

My mechanic was born in the US but his parents are from Germany. His father started the shop and then his son took over and has been turning wrenches for over 25 years. Not only are they great mechanics on US made vehicles but all foreign cars as well. He said the Bilsteins ARE the best you can get. Ha! I trust them explicitly with my cars & trucks.

Thanks for all your help and comments.

I had to use a pry bar and a hammer to get my stock struts out, it was a little pain getting them out but easier than dropping the control arm lol

My guy had a spring compressor mounted on the wall of his shop with a 3 spoke twist handle on top. He said he could feel the springs really taxing his compressor. those Ford truck springs are nothing to mess with if you don't have the right equipment.
