Have you removed a leaf?

Looking to soften the ride on an 02 f150 supercrew 4x4. A suggestion that seems to be made frequently is remove a leaf from the rear leaf pack, likely the bottom one? the overload spring.

I am curious how many people have done this and what kind of improvement you actually seen? This seems to be something I would need to take to a suspension shop since it seems once you cut the bolts holding the springs together you are going to have to press a new one in place. I dont have a press large enough to do it.

So my question is two. A) have you done it and if so did it make a noticable enough improvement in ride quality and B) did you do it yourself?

I should note I do not carry much for load in the box anymore only occassionaly tow now so load carrying capacity is not a concern.
