New Shocks

I was considering putting new shocks on my f150. I have never in my life purchased shocks. My truck is at 70k miles, and the ride has turned real crappy. I was considering a set of Rancho RS5000. As I was looking online, I noticed that they asked how much of a lift. Are these shocks made to lift the vehicle 1 or 2"'s. It would be really nice to do this with the shocks rather than using a leveling kit.

Sorry for the stupid question! In 23 years of driving I really have not had to buy shocks. But owning a Ford, there are many firsts!

Regards!

No those are for stock height applications and we carry them, HOWEVER stock height shocks can be used for up to 2" of lift. These basically stock replacements, they aren't specifically an upgrade like a higher end Rancho or Bilsteins. You will see an improvement though, especially if you've never changed them as you indicated.

Also, shocks don't actually lift a vehicle. What "holds" the vehicle up is the coil springs, leaf springs, or in some cases, a torsion bar. Hope that helps.
