It would be easier to help you with a bit more information. What year is your truck? Do you know what gearing it has now? Is it an Automatic or a Manual transmission? Do you tow with the truck? Sorry for all of the questions, but they all have an impact on how well you can get along with the stock gears.

its and 07 screw with 5.4 automatic....only thing i tow is my 18 foot aluminum boat and from wat i gather most in the 04-07 class are 3.55 but i havent checked yet to be sure. i have the 33x12.50 17 cooper discoverer st's on now and it hasnt seemed to change much from my stock tires and just ordered a 2'' leveling kit and was thinkin about moving up to the 35x12.50 in the same tire. just concerned about rubbing and gearing and this is all new to me

you wont HAVE to do a gear swap, but if you want some power back then id suggest 4.56's.

the gearing will help preserve the transmission aswell as get some power down low to help with turning those tires.

the chip will give you more power but wont help your trans as much as a proper gear swap. Id look into a tuner like Xcal before a chip

I agree with 4.2trimble. As a point of reference, I'm running 35's on my second truck using my stock 3:73 gears. I also know that my performance and mileage will suffer by that choice. I don't tow a lot and drive mostly on road. I am still considering swapping in 4:56 gears in the future.

No problem, we all learn from those who have been there before us, often making the mistakes for us.

put it this way, try taking a nut off with just the Socket (no rachet) you wont get too far. Now try it again with the rachet i bet its gonna be easier on you.

think of your transmission the same way, lower gears (numerically higher) will give you a lever advantage. Thus making the tires turn much easier.

A programmer can give you more power, smoother firmer shifts and so on but its not gonna work like gears.

Id recommend doing gears if you go 35" tires or bigger.
