I ordered me some bilstein 5100's last week. I got them today and the rear ones are the the silver ones and the front ones are the ugly yellow ones. Do they not make the fronts silver too?
well the picture they show are the silver ones http://www.shockwarehouse.com/site/p...ad-Racing-Unit
Yes, there is a difference. These guys failed to look at what year truck you have before they hit send.
As for our trucks, the 5100 are not necessairily silver. They made 5100's for ours that were still yellow. One thing you do need to specify on however is if your truck is lifted or not. Your post and your signature do not say. 5100's are for lifted trucks.
Just for your (and anyone else that doesn't know) own personal knowledge, there is ZERO difference between the 5100 and the standard HD yellow shock other than the length and on some part numbers the color. Valving, design, and everything else is identical.
If you're like me however, it would drive me bonkers to have different color shock wether they were the correct ones or not. I'd get it fixed.

Are your front shocks BE5-6138-HO? If so, that shock only comes in yellow.
Got something I'd like to ask you to watch out for. can you keep an eye on the top bushing of your front shock to see if you run into any problems and report back to us if there is?? There has been reports on here and some other threads of these front shocks being too short. The suspension uses the shock to limit front suspension extension instead of the bump stops. Guys have had problems when the suspension is fully extended, it starts to pull the upper bushing down through the hole (or at least it tries) and messed up that bushing. Have one member on here to has complained of handling/ride problems, most likely due to this effect.
I did some measuring and talked to the guys at Bilstein and discovered the shock they list for a 6" lift (BE5-6526-H5) will actually work for us with a 4" lift, and not over extend on extension, and also not be too long on compression. And they're silver!
Do your rear shocks mount body up or down?
