Lots of ???'s Need your guys help!
Ok...let me start out by saying I don't know nearly as much about all this stuff as you guys do so you'll have to bear with me here. Right now I'm driving an 04 f150 2wd. My family is looking into getting a new car and my mom would get the truck im driving now so I can get a new 4x4 so I can lift it (I'm 17, took quite a bit of convincing on my part to sell my parents on that idea). Now I know that you CAN lift a 2wd truck but I feel like thats kinda strange if you know what I mean (no offense to anyone with that setup). So I'm trying to find a cheap f150 4x4 between the years of 04 and 08 which is tough to do btw. But anyways, once I find the truck I want to lift it. I have always been leaning towards a suspension lift and I'd love to get a 6" with some 35's. The problem with that is the cost. Keep in mind that Im 17 and will have to pay for everything going into this truck so the lower the price the better. Can you guys just help fill me in on what my options are and what you would recommend for my situation? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Pics are nice too!
Thanks in advance

why not a 97-03 F150
you can get them cheaper. IMO look better too.
97-03 5.4L v8 6" Fabtech Lift and 35" tires would be nice. This still allows you to add a body lift and 38" tires down the road. Also the 5.4L has alot of performance upgrades aswell.

I've just never been a fan of the 03 and older model. I dont know why it's just a personal preference I guess. I wish I did like them though because youre right, its amazing how much different the price is between a 03 and 04.
I was just looking at the rough country 6" suspension lift kit. Its the cheapest ive seen for around $1400. Any opinions on the rough country lift?

you wont like my opinions on Rough Country. IMO its crap, dirt quality and service. I wouldnt even think of putting one on another vehicle i own. Ive had problems with them on my ranger and bronco II, then got a Rancho lift and broke that too, but Rancho stood behind their product and replaced it for me. Which i sold for a Sky Jacker and never had any problems till the truck got stollen.
IMO Rancho is the LOWEST on the spectrums of lifts i will allow on my truck, and thats just because of their service.
Ruff country, tuf country, tough country and rough country are all sub par to me and wouldnt be placed on another truck i own.
I think the basic Procomp 6" would be good for you.
How much do you offroad? Do you need 4x4? I say keep the 04 4x2 and make that a capable offroad rig. Lift, tires, limited slip. I learned how to offroad in a 2wd ranger, now im in a more capable rig and much better off then starting with a 4x4.
I had a feeling I was gonna get that sort of response regarding the rough country lift. And sorry to hear about your truck getting stolen, that sucks.
It does seem like the Pro Comp is probably what I'll end up going with because while I dont do "extreme" offroading I want something that I don't have to worry about breaking because I do have to drive it as my daily driver.
As for the 2wd goes, I wont be offroading THAT much however I dont think my dad would even let me take that truck offroading. It was his business car before I inherited it so its pretty dressed up and he nor I would want to have to worry about messing it up.
What kind of tires would you recommend that are a good mix between street tires and offroading tires that wont wear down too fast?

I think my original thought of the Procomp was incorrect, id go with Fabtech. Procomp will work but i think you might be happier with the Fabtech. (Price wise im not sure on either)
As far as tires, Id take a look at Procomp Xtreme AT's they look nice and aggressive. Probably your best bet.
Ok so this is probably a stupid question but just so I'm sure...if I buy the Fabtech 6" lift kit with performance shocks is that everything I need other than wheels and tires?

But im gonna say yes buy the lift and shocks and all you will need is wheels and tires
35" tires on 18" wheels (id go with 17" wheels but thats me)
Ok another question: I just found these http://4wheelonline.com/Products.asp...oductId=157355 what exactly is this? The price is obviously dramatically lower so if this is an alternative that would be great.
Thats just the rear block. It provides part of the lift for the back and it will be included in a kit. You will find that the majority of the cost of suspension lifts come from lifting the front and new shocks.

Id also recommend ordering from 4 wheel parts, not 4wheelonline.
ok so those would be included in the lift system correct? Like I dont have to buy the system for the front and then something different for the back right?
Thanks for the help guys, I know I'm not very knowledgeable about this stuff, hopefully I will be as I spend more time on this site.
