As most of ya'll know I'm running the ProComp Stage I with a leveling kit and AAL. The one thing I found bad about there lift is the stacked blocks in the rear and the block it comes with isn't tapered. You have to buy the shim kit. A few weeks ago my pinion seal started leaking and I had oil everywhere, mostly under my bed and all on my exhaust which looks like crap since the oil burned on it. I don't believe my pinion angle is what caused this b/c I've never had any vibration. It happened when I was pulling on boat on the interstate. I believe the extra weight caused my rear end to rock due to stacked blocks and messed up my seal. I have ordered the Tuff Country 5" tapered blocks to replace the ones I have now. Anyone else have any problems with Procomps rear lift?
I am not sure a single block versus stacked blocks would have made much of a difference in your situation. Anytime you add a large block or blocks to the rear, the axle is going to wrap more when pulling a load. It is the nature of physics.
I agree that a single block is safer than multiples and I have always disliked the way Pro-Comp lifts seen at the local Ford dealerships use blocks with shims. They look good sitting in front of the dealer, but they will not perform well when pulling a load.

Other than the fact that the added block had no taper to it, I can't see how it created a problem for you. You stated that you didn't think it was the pinion angle but the added weight and the stacked blocks that caused the breakage. I agree that added weight could have caused it but 2 stacked blocks rather than one could have nothing to do with it other than the taper situation.

1 solid block vs. stacked blocks would not have made a difference at all. It's not like they 'move' if installed properly. I ran my stage I kit on my '07 for 2 years and no issues. Pulled a boat, 2-horse trailer, flatbed trailer with 3 1,500 lbs round bales loaded on it, etc. with zero issues.Oh - and I'm still running stacked blocks on my Fabtech kit for my '01 now too!! Can't seem to get away from them!! These blocks from Fabtech are tapered though I noticed. Would like to replace them with a solid block but you know how that goes.....probably never get around to actually doing it.

Ya'll are probably right. I may have just had a bad seal. The blocks don't seem like they would move. I changed the seal two weeks ago and have pulled my boat 3 or 4 times since and never had any issues. I may have just had a bad seal from the factory. The tapered block should be in this week so if it goes out again the dealership can't say it's b/c of the pinion angle. But besides this issue I have no other complaints on the lift. And as I said it could have just been a bad seal. I just wanted to see if anyone else had trouble from stacking blocks. It would be much nicer if Procomp did away with the stacked blocks and made one 5.5" block so the truck would sit almost level.
Figures. Any reason why they don't sell it with the kit and not the 2.5" non tapered one? I know the blocks designed for the F-150's aren't cheap. They come with the bump stops built on. I paid $160 with shipping for the Tuff Country ones from Topguncustomz
I don't remember how much mine cost, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't that expensive.
