need help with lift

I just got an '05 fx4 a couple weeks ago, and I'm planning to get a lift, tires, and exhaust this summer. I don't want a 6". The Rancho 4" looks tempting, but is it off -road worthy? Plus, would a 35" tire fit in the stock spare tire compartment under the truck? because it ain't goin in the bed! Would a dual exhaust system be rerouted because of the bigger spare tire? Any advice?

First question is why not a 6" lift??
The 4" rancho is a good kit. It will do just fine off road depending on how extreme or hard-core you plan on using/abusing it. With that said, most people will tell you if you are going to go 4", you might as well go with the full 6". Once you do the 4" lift, you will most likely want to go bigger. But either way, 4" or 6" they are going to perform off-road the same IMO.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe that a 35" tire will fit in the spare location if the exhaust is re-routed/modified.

They're nice, but I just don't want to go with a 6", I want a more subtle lift

The Rancho kit is nice. You might be able able to fit a 35" spare back there.

Do you want a full size spare incase something happens when you are offroading? Is it so you can throw it on and continue the fun if something happens to a main tire?
