Bilstein ride quality question...

I put a set of Bilsteins on the front of my 98 F150 and really liked them. I immediately could tell a difference and the old shocks were not wore out.

Fast forward to my 07 XLT Supercab I have now. IF I put the leveling Bilsteins on the front... other than leveling it out...will the Bilsteins be a little more smooth on ride on rough roads. The existing factory shocks seem very stiff and very firm when driving say 20-25 mph on rough rock roads with pot holes. Just about pounds out your kidneys. Can anyone speak to this for me?? Thanks.

The Bilstein 5100s, which is what you are referring to will be stiffer than OEM shocks, but they have digressive valving and reacts to the change in surface conditions. They are of higher quality.

agreed, bilsteins are very high quality, and anytime you change the ride height expect it to ride a little stiffer. I doubt its an obnoxious ride, but i dont have any personal experience with the 5100s

I think the best way to describe the Bilsteins is firmer, but more progressive than stock. Over large bumps they are noticably firmer than stock, but over small bumps their more progressive nature allows them to maintain better control, and thus improved ride quality.

You won't be sorry.

Before I switch to a full fabtech with Dirtlogics I had the Bilsteins... Loved ever minute of them!

I ended up going with a matched set in the rear when I got my leveling bilsteins!

As mentioned before... very worth it!
