2" - 3" lift?
2" - 3" lift?
Hey Guys,
I have an '03 FX4 reg cab and I want to level it. I tried cranking the torsion bars ( 3 1/2 turns) but i noticed an increased harshness in the ride. The wifey doesn't like it. Does anyone make a 2 - 3 inch suspension kit? I want to level it and at the same time maintain a decent ride.
Thanks,

Just do the torsion bars and change the shocks out unless you order the key set and blocks. Be the best advice. Unless you want a body lift to save the harshness of the bump and ride. Give you the 3" lift without the ride changing at all.
"leveling" torsion key set
Torsion keys and Rear Blocks
I only suggested changing the shocks, as we did the keys on a buddies and the shocks would not extend to compensate for the lift, every bump would jar the truck when the shock maxed out. I use BDS shocks on the front of mine that are rated for a 2to4 lift. Local shop recommended them and they helped alot, but keep in mine the torsion bars are what "acts" as the coil spring or leaf spring would in any other truck so being turned takes some of the travel and smoothness out of it.

I wouldn't go with the aftermarket torsion bar keys. They do the same thing as cranking up your torsion bars only worse because they allow you to much more preload on the torsion bars than you can with the OEM keys. I'd sugges a 3 inch body lift (like mine) or the 4 inch Rancho lift.
Thanks for the suggestions Guys. Here's my delima. My truck is reg cab short bed and it has a pronounced rake toward the front like a lot of stock 4X4s. My wife already complains about having to step up into the truck so I'm limited as to how much lift I can sneak by her, lol. I don't want to go the torsion bar route because of the harsh ride it produces. All of the lift kits I've found all start at about 4+". Does anyone know where I can find a 2" to 3" lift kit. Can you modify a lift Kit without it costing way to much?

Well on the stepping up topic, i would suggest possibly a set of steps either the OEM style molded ones or the aluminum single hoops are a nice touch as well as as the full chrome or painted nerf bars.
The only 2-3 "lifts" available are the torsion kit, 3" body lift. Your next best bet is go to a full four inch, keeps a nice ride going without compromising too much extra height. Which will also take care of the raked stance that seems to plague you as well
Best of luck.
