Help please!!! Ride issue

HEY GUYS, HERE'S THE ISSUE: THE WIFE IS PREGNANT WITH BABY #2, SO INSTEAD OF BUYING A NEW CAR I GAVE HER MY 2007 LINCOLN MARK LT AND I STARTED USING MY F250. THE PROBLEM IS: THE WIFE KEEPS COMPLAINING ABOUT THE STIFF RIDE. THE TRUCK CAME WITH STOCK 20'S WHICH , I THINK, MAY MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I KNOW YOUR SAYING "LADY, IT'S A TRUCK. THEY RIDE ROUGH." BUT A FRIEND OF OURS HAS AN 07 AVALANCHE WITH FACTORY 22'S AND IT RIDES INCREDIBLY SMOOTH, PLUS MY BROTHER HAS AN 07 SIERRA WITH STOCK 20'S WITH A SMOOTHER RIDE THAN OUR LT. IS IT THE SHOCKS FORD IS USING. MAIN THING: DOES ANYONE KNOW A WAY TO GIVE THE TRUCK A "SOFTER" RIDE TO KEEP HER OFF MY BACK? WHAT CAN I DO? ANY HELP APPRECIATED P.S. SHE DOES NOT TOW, SO NO WORRIES ABOUT THAT.

I agree, play with the tire pressures and try running them on the low end of the scale.

lol.... sorry about the "screaming" -didn't notice the CAPS were on until i posted. the max psi pressure says 44 lbs. what would be the safe amount of pressure to run with being safe?

try running about 35 if that doesnt help try 30 psi but i wouldnt go any lower than that. you cant compare the ride of your truck with an avalance either, completly different suspension set ups.

ok guys. i dropped down to 35psi and it seemed to help some, but overall the ride is still stiff-legged. new shocks? maybe smaller rims? (i have 20's). what next? someone said bilstein 5100 shocks. keep in mind-i dont want to raise or lower the suspension.

How many miles on the truck? I just changed my shocks after 56k and my Mother in Law says it rides better than a brand new kia barrego (Not spectacular but for reference.)

k, you don't want to put bilstein 5100s on there. Those, and other adjustable (height adjustable) shocks will be stiffer than stock... You might want to look into some OEM quality Bilsteins, those could possibly be softer... the biggest thing is that you have a Ford and you have the OEM 20s... My '08 came with the 20's and stock Pirelli 275/55/r20 tires. I put 20K miles on them before I put a lift and 17" rims with 35" tires... My truck rides smoother than my dad's expedition... I ran my stock tires on the OEM 20s with 35 PSI... I think that's what the sticker on the door panel said to run it at. The new BFGs on the 17s are like 50PSI... but its still a lot smoother b/c of the smaller rim and bigger tire.

Keep in mind, like others have said, you can't compare a Ford to a Chevy with the ride. Typically a Chevy will ride a lot smoother than a Ford... I guess they sacrifice looks and performance for a smoother ride. lol, jk... I love Chevy's too. But they have completely different setups for the suspension.

i could be wrong, but my friend had me under the impression that the "adjustable" part of the shocks were damping from soft to firm. he was saying it had something to do with the valve...i dunno. this is the first time i've needed to do something like this. are there shocks that actually let you adjust the damping?

thanks alot! i will research. a friend of mine has an lt with 18's. i wonder if the 18's would make a difference in the ride quality. seems like another friend's 05 f150 with 18's rode smooth also. (been a while since i've ridden in it though.)

the smaller rim will make it ride smoother because there is more sidewall on the tire to absorb the bump.
