Lift Plans

Plan on buying my lift in a week or 2, need some input

According to the state of NJ , im pretty much maxed out already with my 3" Body lift and 2.5 leveling kit on 35's. i think its 9 inches above stock total (including tires). you need to go through NJ's special "high-rise" inspection for anything above 4 inches, which i never did after the BL.

Well , i would love to go with a 6" kit, but i do not wanna run the risk of not being able to drive my truck.

My solution :

im thinkin of going with either 4.5" superlift or 4" Rancho and running a 1.5" or 2" leveling kit on top. Just incase i get in trouble with it i can always remove the leveling kit, and it will only sit about 2" higher than it is now.

so heres the dilemma , superlift or rancho

i plan of going with 4.88's for gearing
and im leaning towards Toyo Mt's in 38/13.5R20 , i like the toyo's b/c the 13.5 width , i do not wanna run fender flares and its also not a true 38, so worse comes to worst i would be running the 3+4 combo with a 37.7 tire

they ever flipped a truck before? i would be pissed!

id go with a rancho.

why not go 14.5-15.5 i think either way the tires are gonna stick out. there is no keeping my truck clean when it rains just w/ my 12.5" wide. either way what ever you decide im sure it will look bad ***.

I've been very happy with my Rancho lift, its a very well built lift kit. Installation was pretty easy as well.

I still have a year before I have to take it through inspection, but my cousin has a Dodge with a lift I put on. He told the local facility it had a four inch lift and then they measured from the ground to his door. I forget the magic number, but think it was something between between 25"-27". Any number above that and they said he would have to take it to the high rise test facility. He was ok to get inspected at the regular facility though.

I would love to go with the rancho, the kit seems to be excellent quality , but i think it starts at $1800 w/ o shocks, the 4.5 superlift comes complete at $1600

I would love the width of a 14.5/15.5, but i get hassled now with my 12.5's sticking out .

even with a leveling kit on top you'd still go with 37 ?

i guess with the leveling kit on but what if you have to take it off and your tires dont fit, the superlift seems to be a decent kit as well

Id say run either lift you want. Both are fine.

Id say run bilistien 5100 adjustable shocks.

Id say run a WIDE 36" tire but you say they give you a hard time for the tires sticking out so id say a 37x13.5 would work

Both of them are a good kit, but i think i have heard people say they got a little over 5 inches of lift with there rancho, either one would be a good choice, i say go with the 37/13.50 tire

Good point made about the possibility of having to take the leveler off and consequently the wheels not fitting. If you did have to take it off then you would not be able to turn your wheels very far at all w/out major rubbing because of the shallow bs. Your best bet is to find a cheap set of rims to keep your 35's on for just that purpose.

*HINT HINT* Mine will be for sale in the next couple days....$350

I ve seen on topguncustomz that bilstein makes shocks for 4-6" lift, does that mean I will not need a leveling kit and i can bump the shock up 2" to 6" ?
