Will this work???

Hello all. I am looking to lift the front end of my 2005 F-150 FX4 in order to cleanly fit 35" BFG Muds with black Robby Gordon wheels. I called 4 Wheel Parts today and asked if I could buy just the front end hardware of the 4" Rancho lift to just lift the front of my truck. They would sell me kit minus the shocks and rear blocks for $1400.

Here is the rancho 4" lift kit
http://www.4wheelparts.com/Lift-Kits...pn=RANR1270R9B

Here are the coilovers

My question is will these bolt on King coilovers fit with this lift? Does the lift kit change the size of the shock/coilover required from the oem coilover?

Am I waisting my money buying the hardware to lift the front 4"? Will these King coilovers lift the front end enough to fit 35's with Robby Gordon wheels? (17x8 4 1/8" BS -9 offset). Will the ride be better with the lift vs. without the lift becuase the coilover will not have to be pre-loaded as much?

Thanks

Why do you wan't to lift the front only? Also, those coilovers are OEM replacements so they won't work with the Rancho lift.

well because I like the "pre-runner" look when the front is a bit higher. Thanks for the info...I thought that would be pretty cool if those coilovers fit with the rancho lift. I think im going to settle with just a pair of Fox or King coiovers and raising them 2.5in.

Thanks

Well if you like the prerunner look and want to fit 35's on those 17x8's w/ 4.18" bs then you're gonna need, at a minimum, 3" of lift in the front. Or you could get some fiberglass fenders too and just go with like 2-2 1/2" and remove the 2" rear block you have from the factory. People, myself included, have fit 35's on just a 2" or 2 1/2" leveled truck plenty of times now but in order to do so the bs measurement needs to be between 5 1/2" and 6 1/4" on an 8" wide wheel. With 4 1/8" you are going to have major rubbing at the back of the front wheel wells. No amount of plastic trimming is going to cure it. Either you cut a decent chunk out of the metal in the spot, which I don't recommend, or you lift it higher, you choose different wheels or you get fiberglass fenders. To be honest I don't know that fiberglass fenders would even cure the problem. You'd also have a lot of rubbing on the front valance but you could either cut that or take it and your bumper off and get a prerunner style tube bumper. That would give you a lot more clearance in front and continue your prerunner transformation.

The other part of this is that not many of us on the forum here suggest you go over 2 1/2" lift up front w/out doing a dropped component lift. You can definitely pull off 3" with a spacer or coilovers but it will expediate the wear process on your vital parts.

If you can afford it, I'd 100% suggest getting the JD FAbrication lift. http://jdfabrication.com/index.php?o...d=13&Itemid=29

thank you very much, that is the response I was looking for. Unfortunately, that kit is a little out of my price range even though it looks totally sick. I think ill end up buying the front end hardware of the Rancho kit to lift it 4".

You might want to think about just buying a 6" Pro Comp off ebay. You can get it for like $1300 sometimes and it would give you more than enough clearance for the 35" combo you want. Sometimes even 4" Rancho owners experience fittment issues w/ 35's. You could easily buy the Pro Comp and just use your stock 2" block and not add theirs. That would give you a healthy prerunner rake and more than enough fittment for the Robby Gordons. That's a better route to go than the Rancho in my opinion. Ask 4wheelparts to sell you th Pro Comp w/out the rear shocks and block and see what they say. It should be cheaper than the rancho. Besides that, I think they are offering up to $250 for all Pro Comp stuff right now.
