shocks with 2" drop

05 supercrew xlt, 2wd. I just installed 2" drop shackles to level the truck (and make it just a tad easier to load my dirt bike). No problems, but the stock shocks seem weak and probably ready for replacement (59k miles). First, with the drop, the shock is sitting further into the stroke than stock height...any need to go to shorter shock? And second, what is the hot tip on replacement shocks (normal street driving, some dirt roads to go riding, want stockish ride quality).

I have the 2" shackles and I just put Bilsteins on all the way around. Best improvement was in the handling, cornering.

Jim, I did the fronts on my f-body and they liked to killed me (rusted nut on main shaft), how hard were your f150's fronts?

Thanks for the advice Bluejay. Hard to go wrong with Bilsteins.

My fronts were pretty easy. Mostly, I stood and watched Patrick and his buddy Josh.

Seriously, it does take a little muscle and taking the shock out of the spring is a two man job unless you have a good bench vise.

I put my Bilsteins on the rear about a month before I got around to doing the fronts. I was amazed at how much improved the ride and handling were with just the new shocks on the rear.
