2wd to 4wd
now if shifty would go to work we could start sooner. but he is already to far into this to back out now. he has the tires, rear axle and is soon gettn the front. alot of prep work and such with any big project but should be fun.
Ok well i'm sorry for being such a moron, I didn't know it was a normal thing for people to convert a 97+ F150 to a 4x4 considering the nature of the body style. I thought this was something never done before and that he was just going to half-*** rig it all together.
I definately want to see pics of the progress ya'll make.

no i understand totally. just kinda pisses me off when people talk. but newase old news ha. ya shifty kinda does his own thing and his truck is got some time into it and he doesnt want to ditch it so why not improve. and if i know him there will be lotsa picks. ha. i regularly get 5 to 10 pics a day from him of sometimes the most random stuff haha
Well i guess i will throw in my .02 into this lol. ROCK ON DUDE, i think that if your happy roll with it.
Now for my personal opinion, for a project truck man that would rock....as a daily driver personally i would not do it. That being said, I cant wait to see how it all turns out, keep us updated with progress pics.
Like i said if your happy, and apparently you are that's all that matters.

im spending 4 grand cause im buildin mine 3x bigger than shiftys PLUS did you read what he got for free all that stuff ands up to over 1500. D70's arent cheap neither are good working 205's. That could easily push 1500, you could also get that for under a grand if you were waiting for deals. I dont have connections for free parts. my parts are bought. I also bought tires, im also paying for a shop so i have all the tools needed and computer programs needed. I also have use of a water jet if needed. DOM and Chromoly are EXPENSIVE... ive had to buy both. Im also gonna be running hydro assit steering, dual t-cases thats more $$$ that you dont know about.
Shifty WILL spend more than $300 buy the time its done. Unless he keeps getting some wicked free b's
And no driving a truck with 35" + tall tires isnt unsafe, unless you drive like a total idiot. Yes tires are expensive to replace, you are finally right on something. But geuss what you got to pay to play. So why are you commenting on this you dont know... you have never replaced big tires and probably wont. I would really like to know why is such a bad idea to drive a BIG truck on the road. My truck wont even be the biggest on the site, and deffinitely wont be the biggest in my area. Hell the guy thats helping me build this thing drives a truck with 52's every single day.
You know what else is expensive and down right annoying breaking CV's, tie-rods, ball joints and bending torsion bars every week. I broke my ball joints and tie-rods with 10 hours on them... thats sayin somethin. That puts the truck down for at least a 2 days so i can get the parts in to fix them, then i have to wait for a weekend when im not busy to do it.
Now you need to REREAD Minimonster17's post. he knows the limits of the IFS. I broke my IFS with 36's and a WEAK motor on stock gears. It has alot to do with how that individual wheels. IMO if you arent going bigger than 37's the SAS isnt needed (unless your doing some hardcore rockcrawlin or want to run some vtred tractor tires) the Fabtech suspension lift and 35's is a great setup for the occasional offroader and mildly aggressive tires. Minimonster has wheeled with me, he knows what i put my truck threw and knows this is the only setup that i can possibly run and enjoy.
Now another thing, you mention is cheaper to keep replacing parts and then upgrade cv's. Well im gonna give you a break down. To have my truck the way i wanted it and keep the IFS id have spent $4500, and id still be breaking parts every weekend. Then Custome CV's would be absolutely redicuslously expensive you are looking at a grand for those IF you can find them, if not and you have to have them custom made your looking at 2 grand. And they still arent gonna touch the strength of a D60. I think you can do the math yourself.
and again you havent went and looked at my thread so you really are talking out your ***. Im not converting to 4x4 my truck is 4x4. shifty is converting but im not.
Heres ANOTHER quick reason that im doing the swap, the motor thats going in my truck would have torn the IFS apart...
im gonna post a few pictures that are of 2 members that are on here. that have done this, if you want to see my pictures then go to my thread.

Whoa man you need to chill out!
Yeah those trucks look cool, i'm just putting the fact out there that that's pretty useless to have a truck that high. Can't wait until the next time he makes a thread about hauling 5K+ in the bed with that big of lift

Guys... I'm not going to put up with the stupidity. Let's bring it all back in to check or we'll all have to go play at someone else's house because Billy's mommy didn't make the kool-aid and cookies...
I'm not here to babysit.

yes 5k pounds in the bed is a tad bit much, but thats why you got a trailer. Rarely use my bed cause its so small, even lifted this high ill still throw a half yard of dirt in there or anything else that can fit saftly. What is great is as soon as the trucks done ive got to pull a trailer to bradenton which is 2 hours away, so im hoping it gets done on a week day so i have the week to drive it and make sure theres no bugs in the system. If not then ill be doing that with a load. Not a heavy load but still a load.
my truck will be right about the same heigth as the white one. the white one is on 40's, the green one is on 44's. its also been on 46's, 38.5's and 39's. right now he's running 44" pitbull rockers i believe. his truck is sick.
sorry RP
trucks look good 4.2
