PLEASE ! tell me if im screwed

Im looking at buying a 05 f150 4x4 and putting a rize 8" with 37's, my concern is the truck has the 4.6L in it so will the truck have enought power with 4.88's or should i give up on this one and try to find a 5.4L. Now im not lookin for a speed demon i just dont want to feel like i have a 4cyl under the hood if u know what i mean. So let me know if ill be ok with the 4.6 + 4.88's or go with the 5.4

If you send me the current tire size (mm/profile aspect 60 series etc/wheel diameter) and the new /proposed combo I have a software program that will do a rpm /mph comparison

you need to regear even if you have a 5.4

i have the 4.6 and 35's, do a few power mods and you will be happy with it. i can beat lifted 5.4's all day long

all owners with a 5.4 will tell you to get a 5.4, but the 4.6 is a good motor. the differences between the 5.4 and 4.6 are the tranny and the rear end.

with 37's you need 4.88's. talk to dirtbound he has a rize 8" lift and 37's and going bigger soon.

tbonesmonster has 41's on his, i think he has a 4.6 but he might have a 5.4

Vmp tuned xcal 2, K&n intake, slowmaster super 44.

the custom tunes are amazing and if you have never had tuning before its amazing. i paid $410 shipped for the tuner and 3 custom tunes.

maybe one day ill get 4.56 or 4.88's but not anytime soon. if i do any more mods it will be underdrive pulleys, efans, or long tube headers

I looked over the truck and it is bone stock, so a intake, chip, pipes sound like its going to be a must for some good power along with the 4.88. I have the 4.6 in a 98 f150 and i love it,and it has plenty of power but its 2wd and not on 37's lol. The tire's i wanted to go with ether some procomps or toyo i havent really decited, and i know that some 37's are almost 38's and some are 36's depending on the brand

if you do a flowmaster dont expect to gain any power. i just got mine for the sound.

with 4.88's, tuning, and intake i think that truck will be quick.

for tuning look at PHP's Gryphon (re-cased edge) if you want a screen on the dash, VMP tuning with an xcal 2 or 3, i have an xcal 2 from VMP and the tunes are amazing, and then Troyer also has custom tuning on the xcal 2 and 3.

my intake is a K&N 63 series. at the time it was the intake that showed the most HP increase. if you dont want a loud intake do not get this one. its loud, but sounds really good. you can hear it any time above 2200 RPM. sounds like a tornado in the engine which i really like

i have a 97 with the 4.6, stock 3.55 gears, and 38" tires. sure its slow, but i can still get the tires to "chirp" from a dead stop. i think the 4.6 is a great motor and have driven the 5.4 before and to tell you the truth, i wasnt like AMAZED with it or anything. sure it has more power but if im not mistaken, that is more for the towing side of it? someone will correct me if im wrong but i would say, 4.88s, CAI, gryphon tuner, and maybe some other odds and ends, you will be happy with the performance. im still savin up for 4.88s, then soon after that the CAI and the tuner will follow right behind.
