2.5 with or without 1.5 rear

I have done alot of reading on what to do with my 04 screw and just would like a few opinions,

I have decided to go with a 2.5 leveling kit for the front approx cost $100.00
I was wondering if I need the whole kit with the 1.5 rear block and longer u bolts as well it comes with the longer shocks. approx cost $480.00 for parts

I am also wondering about just doing the front 2.5 kit and adding a leaf to the rear as I am one of those crazy fawkers who pull a fiver with my f-150 and thought this might help to beef up the payload.

the bottom line is I want my truck to sit like the red one on page 1 of this thread here...
https://www.f150online.com/forums/su...-pictures.html

Money is not really an issue..

Also if anyone knows what type of rims these are let me know.

Thanks for the advise.

Well I would go with the AS aal for the extra payload, since you say you tow. It does stiffen the ride up a little bit though. The block would keep it closer to a factory ride.

So definetly do something with the rear either the leaf or the block dont just leave it stock is that what your saying?

Thanks again for your input.

Oh I guess I should have put it different, if you like the way the leveling kit looks by itself, then I would just leave it. But if you dont like the complete leveled look or if the front is high, the block or the aal would be a good option to get a little rake back.

I could be wrong but i'm pretty sure I see a suspension lift on the front of that red truck you are referring to in that link.

BTW, if you have a 4wd, you don't want to order a kit with 1.5" rear blocks because that's what you've got already. You'd want to order the 3".

I was wondering too if he might have a suspension lift, i have a pm out to him but no reply back yet.

I was under the impression that the leveling kit comes with the block adding 1.5 to the rear for a total of 3 but maybe i otta check into that a little closer.

I'm thinking ill just try a leaf in there with the 2.5 in the front I just dont want to end up with my front higher than my rear.i really dont like that look.

Well if you have a 4wd you have a 1 5/8" block right now, as he stated above you would need the 3" block from AS in order to achieve another 1.5 But if you have a 2wd you would just need a block for a 4wd

I believe the 3 inch block from AS is around $120.00 on their ebay store

I have a 04 4x4 supercrew lariat, I will look closer as to what this kit comes with.

any idea would the extra leaf be the same height lift as the 3 inch block??

cause as i said I do tow so I would benefit from the leaf

heres a link to AS aal on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1-1-2...1%7C240%3A1318
They claim on there it add's 1.5 to 2 inches with up to additional 950lbs. Maybe someone will chime in with how much it lifted their rearend, because I dont have the aal personally.

Thanks to eveyone for the help, yesterday I installed the 2.5 front leveling kit and some 20 inch american racing rims with some 35 inch toyo open country mt's looks sweet, I left the back alone for right now as it sits completely level no sighns of the rear being lower than the front.
Down the road I might throw a block or leaf in the rear, I was told several times yesterday that a leaf would make it ride extremely rough.
It defenatly handles not as good as it used to when stock but I think I can get used to it.
Thanx again for all the help, I will try to post some pics soon.

Don't forget the alignment if you haven't gotten one yet.

I'm in a similar situation. I think I'm going to put on the riderite airbags instead of an AAL, then I can pump them up when I tow but not have it high in the back when not towing.

Does anyone know how many pounds of air you need in it to raise it about an inch? ie. can I use the bags to level the back with the front?
