Squeak=possible U joints. Does the jerk happen when accelerating from a stop on a slight turn? If so, possible clutch packs in rear end.

no, there is no turn needed. it will more or less "churp" for any angle weather i turn or not. if you could imagine all the bolt holding the bed down to the fram being just a little loose and feeling the tug and hearing the squeek from it moving, thats what thi sound like

Sounds like u-joints binding due to being worn out. Look for signs of rust coming from the caps around the joints. Or you could pop the driveshaft out and manually move them and see if they are binding. If they seem fine, while the shaft is out, put it in 4x4 High and drive it a short distance and see if the noise is gone. Might lose a little fluid out of the t-case, just don't go far. Just enough to see if the noise is still there.

Some "play" is normal driveline lash(that is if it is a "twisting" of the driveshaft back and forth play. I wouldn't worry about that. If you have a warranty, take it in. But most aftermarket warranties work like this: if it is not covered under your particular plan, you will be responsible for the diagnosis and repair (if you let them repair it). Just something to keep in mind.

If it is the new body style 04, some came with "staked" u-joints. I have yet to replace them, so I can't help much. I suspect they would be pressed out and the replacement joint would have internal style retainers because the shaft doesn't have a groove for the old style circlips. I have replaced the driveshafts with updated parts a few times for TSB's (I work at a Ford dealer), and they have the old style u-joints with the circlips that retain the caps.

Sure, just don't go for the cheap brand. But before you buy, check it out first. Nothing worst than spending time and money for nothing.

WTF red grease? And what do you mean "tore the rear end up"? Did they just lube the slip yoke and send you on your way? Now that I read further into your concern, it seems that it could have been a dry slip yoke. Same symptoms. Just remember, we are trying to help diag something off what someone else is telling us.
