lift question

lift question

after what point do I have to get new rims when I do a lift

for exampl I have 16" rims on my truck and I want to do 6" suspension lift am I going to have to get bigger rims and if so how much bigger

As soon as you want them are your rims you have now stock? If so and you lift your proabably going to want new ones. It opens you up into a huge process of elimination. You can stay with 16's if your truck is a 97 and go up to 22's if ya want. You will get more replies, if you do pick a new wheel just make sure its the one you want. Best of luck

I think he is asking about wider wheels. YOu can use the oem 16x7 inch wheels with a 315/75-16 (35x12.50) tire untill you can afford wider aftermarket wheels.

well I was asking because someone told me that if I get a six inch lift that my rims would not fit because something about the arms being too wide

i believe they are referring to the backspacing of the current rims you have. most lift kits have maximum backspacing allowed because of the new knuckles that come with the lift kit.

It's not a concern on lifts for the 97-03's. Your OEM wheels have 4.5 inches of backspacing which is what almost all aftermarket off road styled wheels also use.
Some lifts for 04-08 F-150's require wheels with bs different than the oem wheels.
