I left my front crossmember in there as its gonna be used for another project i have. But unless you want to cut it out you need at least 8" of lift to clear it saftely.

I have seen a rig, doing multiple rollovers during a nasty, nasty "oops". His front axle mounting points on everything broke. Panhard bar, link, shocks, everything. Only thing holding the front axle near the rig when all said and done, was the full hydro lines. They are TOUGH. If you break one, its user error 100% or neglect.
Full hydro is awesome man. Not sure why you have a bad taste about it. I have driven on road, off road, rocks, you name it, and I love it. It does take a bit of a learning curve. You don't steer quite the same.

For legal reasons, I understand. Thats the big issue with street/trail trucks.

And for all you blown away how long this takes.... well, I would say this build is by far, faster then "normal". This huge task takes LOTS and LOTS of time.

I still believe its much easier to break a line, than it is to break chromoly tube and end links. I know for a fact i wont break it from stress in the mud. But flying debris from the road can rupture a line. Hell a piece of retread bent my brush gaurd. Sorry man. I dont like not having a mehanical steering setup. Hydro assist is nice and ill be running it soon but full hydro and street use is not for me. I just wont do it. too much "IF" in the equation.

I'm not blown away by how long this has taken at all. When I first read about what Trim was doing I thought it would take a long longer than the 2 weeks he originally claimed it would take......and it clearly has. He made it sound like it ws going to be in and out and that it was easy to do. At least that's the way I took it.

it still is a 2 week to a month and a half job. But ive had problems. shipment not coming in, wrong parts shipped, LONG wait for springs... The swap isnt hard at all its actually fairly straight forward. Trust me theres no way anyone thought it would take this long.

The biggest problem we had was the Front springs rear hangers.

But all in all i could have done it myself in this much time. A shop thats done one before on a 97-03 f150 would knock this project out in a month tops.

Not trying to convince you to do it at all, like I said, for legality reasons, it makes sense. But the fear of a line breaking is just... a false fear. they simply don't. Not with proper maintenance. There is a reason you don't see mechanical steering on on the bling bling, high dollar rigs. Either rock racing, desert racing, or trail riding. Let me see if I can dig up some pics, and make ya a believer !

Sorry man, didn't mean to make it sound like I was calling you out or anything. I wasn't trying to at all ! Was just trying to give trim some breathing room. Everyone's stoked to see his monster of a truck !!!

Ive seen a TON of really nice setups. But then another big reason is price. Full hydro is fairly expensive. Im trying to do this truck for street/mud and i really dont think its fully needed for those enviroments. When i build my trail truck ill be doing hydro steer. But that will be a trailered truck.

Hopefully a Winch mount but for now it will be used to hold up my new headlights.

I know man. I wish that money went into my pocket ! The car came in today btw. We don't think it will take much time at all. Maybe a couple weeks. Month or so max. Depending on "normal" workload. I will keep ya updated and we'll get those gears done for ya as soon as I have a spare rack.

I wish I had hydro parts laying around. Going full hydro would solve so many stupid little clearance issues i'm having with my trac-bar and drag link. Meh...cheaper to make a new trac-bar haha

But not as cool.
