What should I do with my 4.2 2wd
What should I do with my 4.2 2wd
hey yall I got a 2002 F150 2wdand Im not sure which lifts to use. i want to use a 3.0 or 3.5 spindle kit with a 1.5 spacer and a 3" body lift. what are some good brands for a spindle kit? will the body lift affect my towing if i have a hitch attached to the frame? do yall think that its pretty dumb for me to do this?

You can usually find Doestch sprindles on Ebay pretty cheap.
The body lift will hot affect your receiver hitch.
Why would it be dumb? Sounds like a good plan to me. Since you have a 4x2, you will probably want to regear.

eh its hard to say. my 4X4 fit 35's and i only have 3" body lift.
im actually lookin to run 4:10's soon, i have the stock 3:73 and i still have power, just not as much as i want. id run lower if i had a v6 though.

I have a 4.2L V6, 35" tires, and 4.10 gears. 4.10 seems fine for me. It gives just enough launch on take-off so that the truck does not feel sluggish. But still manages to keep decent mileage on the freeway. Just consider what you're actually doing with your truck. Mine is a daily driver. Stuff goes into the bed, but not a lot of heavy stuff. Occasionally, I'll hitch up a trailer. But mostly, it's daily driven. It's not just sitting in my driveway waiting for off-road trips and pulling heavy loads. I have to consider gas usage, so keeping it close to stock is more beneficial to me. I did not need 4.56 or 4.88 gears to move 10K lbs, get 5 mpg on the street + 12 mpg on the highway, or crawl through extreme terrain.
thats what i would go with.
unless you plan on offroading then either 4.56's or 4.88's
My 4x4 4.2 ran 36's on stock 3:55's and it was barely strong enough to spin the tires is 4hi when in mud.
If you dont plan to offroad then go with 4:30's
