Do you need a bump stop block?

i was thinking about making my own 3" block because i can readily get access to stuff to make it, so i was wondering do i really need a manufactured 3" block like the readylift one with the bumpstop on it or could i just make it my self? how much thread is left on the U bolts? i have really looked its too cold out, but i dont see why it would be a problem.. i dont tow.. and all i will have in the bed is a dirtbike or a 400 lb quad and im sure it wouldnt sag that much

personally i wouldn't make a lift block. too much liability with it, but you do "have" to have a bumpstop on it, but it's there for a reason

1500 lbs is the max payload capacity isnt it? i dont see how daily driving/putting a dirt bike in the back would effect it, yes its there for a reason but how many times have you bottomed out your rear suspension? never.. only if you have a fifth wheel trailer or have alot of dirt or whatever in ur pan alot then you probley would bottom out a nice bit.. i dont no what to do tho, your paying like 300 bucks for a little block that you can make out of scrap metal

300 bucks for a block? i'm not sure where your looking? but with u-bolts, your looking at less than a 100 bucks. why waste the time? 3.5" blocks off ebay

3.5 would be too high.. and those dont have bump stops? so what your saying doesnt make sense.. you say they are there for a reason then you show me ones without bump stops haha, im talking about the 3" ready lift block.. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/_Car-...4506.m20.l1116
im from canada and the shipping is 89 US so thats well over 100 CAD and its 139.95 US to buy and thats gonna be 170 CAD for sure so its close to 300 for a block

a block isnt just a square block of steel...the is alot more to it then that especially on the 04+ f150 which uses 2 alighnment pins. the block also sets your pinion angle. just listen to everyone and buy them. or risk doing it wrong and have your diff shift while driving and throw you off the road or potentially kill someone...

if you have a water jet cutter then make it yourself, program it into the a CAD program and cut away.

If you plan on just welding metal together dont even bother its pointless.

Theres more to the block than 4 equal sides. Id personally just buy them, or an add-a-leaf

so why do you want a 3" block?
