Need to go bigger
Need to go bigger
Well folks I am once again deployed but this time to Afghanistan. I decided im gonna start shopping around to lift the rig bigger.
I kicked around just adding a 3" PA Body Lift and putting 38"s on under there but after i get that installed and buy new tires im guessing it would run me around 3-4 grand.
I started to shop around for the rize 12" and found this site
http://exaltmotorsports.com/i-131798...04-08-4x4.html
That site lists the 12" Rize for about 3300, I would of course have to take care of the back lift also. If i bought that kit for the front what would i need to do to take care of the back? Could i just block it? Or would i require leaf springs? I know leafs would be the best way to go, i just want to know all my options and look at the numbers to see what i actually want to start buying so i can put it all on when i get home
Oh yeah, if i go with the Rize i would also be able to run 40"s instead of 38's so thats a bonus
Basically what im asking is what would be the total cost to go with the Rize, i would do my own legwork but the internet connection they give us is pretty shady so it takes me hours to surf around sites, i just want a solid number for a finished product going with the 12" Rize and 40" tires and then a number for just adding the 3" Body Lift to my 6" pro comp and then of course gap guards and relocating exhaust and hitch and everything that comes with that. If somebody or a couple people have done any of these things i would really appreciate the help so i can send my buddy a list of what he needs to pick me up
Thanks Guys

I'm getting ready to go with the 12" Rize myself, also from Exalt, and here's what I've found out so far........
With that kit you still have to buy the brake line kit for about $100, rear shocks(I'm going with the Bilstein 5100's for about $150) and either a leaf spring/block combo or a pure spring set-up. Rize sells an 11" spring for the rear but from what I've read it is a soft spring that decreases the payload capacity. That kit sells for around $1000-$1200. Those 3 things you can get from Exalt also.
As an alternate to the Rize 11" springs there are 2 other routes you can go with that I know of. I talked to Deaver Springs and they can make a custom 6" leaf pack for $900 that you can use in conjunction with the Rize 6" block(Exalt sells the block for about $200) and that would cost you about $1100 to go this route. I'm not sure what Deaver offers as far as customizing the characteristics of their springs but I imagine they could pretty much do anything you wanted. The path I am taking is through National Springs in Santee, CA. They said they can make me a custom 12" leaf pack for $1150. That will eliminate the use of a block all together and they custom tailor the characteristics to exactly what you want. They said they have you weigh the rear of the vehicle and then tell them exactly what you want the springs to do. They are going to build a progressive set-up for me that increases wheel travel and payload but not at the cost of a harsh ride.
As far as the driveshafts go, I've gotten mixed info. The best info I've gotten though is from a member by the name of FLspeed because he has the Rize 12" and it makes it first hand experience. He said that the front shaft on his remains stock and the rear needs to be extended though I'm not sure how much. There are a couple specer kits out there that you can use instead of buying custom driveshafts. Summit Racing has one that Pro Comp makes and it is $90. From what another member told me awhile back, you should be able to get custom fron/back shafts made locally for $500-$600. I think that's the route I am going.
Hope all that helps bro

Thanks tlt008 thats pretty much exactly what i needed to hear. I want to see if i can stick around the 6,000 dollar mark as a budget, but prolly end up going higher than that

yeah I'm right at the $10k mark after buying all that stuff plus some new 20's, 40x13.5's, Bilstein 5100's for up front, 4.88's front and rear and all the labor to install that stuff. It'll probably be closer to the $11k mark though. Never thought I would have dropped over $13k into my truck in just over 6 months after buying it but I'm sure just about everyone says that!
Good luck and stay safe man!

tlt, you should do atleast a 14.50, IMO a 13.50 will look like a tractor tire with that big of a tire.
stukiniraq, don't forget gears as well $1500ish installed, and rear shocks (if the rize doesn't come with it)

13K into an IFS lift? thats rediculous.
Oh well for half that you could have a solid front axle, lower gears (gonna help when runnin 40's), more lift, and much more strength.
Im doing a SAS (solid axle swap) on my truck it will be on 15" of lift D60's front and rear and 5.13 gears with 44" tires. All this is gonna be done for under 4k

I've been looking at picture after picture trying to decided if 13.5's were going to be wide enough and I honesty think they are.
Besides that, if I went with a wider tire it would change way tooo many things like which tires and rims I would be getting and I would have to lift the truck another inch or two because that lift doesn't function well with wider wheels which means i woud have to order a larger lift leaf pack and figure out something to get the front up higher since I'm not going with coilovers just yet.
I think 13.5's will be fine
