Unhappy cheap?

my family+girlfriend put some money together to buy me a "rough country" basic 6" suspention lift. it came with pitarm, brake lines, shocks.... and i though it was a good deal when i found out how much they payed for it. but then i called a local shop and the guy over the phone told me that this type of lift kit form this company was the cheapest out on the road today. he said that he almost didnt want to install it bec he knew how that kit is and its cheap. is this correct? should i return it and get a better one? keep in mind;
i am not going to go extreme, hardcore, ball to the wall off roading. i jsut wanted it to be lifted and have a safe and comphy ride. where i live in jersey i cant its city type so i cant "offroad" anyway. what are your opinions on this?
thanks for taking your time.

I bet your local shop has one they would like to sell you for alot more.

I've run Rough Country lifts on Jeeps for years and never had an issue. As long as you're not juming it or extreme off roading, I wouldn't worry about it.

a shop over by me swears they are the best, but then again they had never heard of BDS. but some shops like em, some don't from what i can tell on the new f150's. if your only on road you won't break anything, so you will be fine, just thank your gf a couple times and have it installed. don't forget you will need new rims if you don't already. i know shops that won't install pro comp, but look at how many people run their lift and have had no problems. i have never heard of a problem with a pro comp, its usually just shops trying to sell what they have in stock or can get.

When I shopped for my kit, I talked to the technicians who did the installations. I already figured that salesmen in the front of the house always had their own ulterior motives. But the mechanics turning the wrench see first hand how these kits go on, and which ones come back. Even the guys at my local 4 Wheel Parts Performance Center, who are suppose to be selling Explorer Pro Comp, did not recommend Pro Comp. "We own it, and we're suppose to sell it, so we can't say anything bad. But for a little more money, there are much better kits." Then there were the independent shops who had everything bad to say.

i got those stories from the shop who did mine, but they also didn't sell it but they were much cheaper than the 4wp for a pro comp lift, they did say there are some fitment issues but after one has been installed i have not heard of problems of parts breaking.

go to more than one shop if your thinking about switching lift kits. each shop will try and promote the lifts they sell. so getting true statements might be hard. i honestly think you will be happy for the rough country for daily driving.

one of the 4x4 magazine had a 6''tuff country write up .... it sounded and looked alot like the pro-comp , uses spacer up front..... the front cross member looked alot better than pro-comps did . imo ....
