Uninstall a body lift?

Whould it be really hard to uninstall a body lift on an 2005 FX4?

I don't have extra part from the installation. Didn't ask the shop to give it back and they didn't think about it eater.

What would i need to take it off?

I want a real suspension lift, but don't want to run 37'' tires. 6 + 3 = 9'' and 9'' of lift with 34.6'' tires is to much lift.

Some sockets, some ratchets, air makes it easier. Also my address to ship the body lift to when you remove it. These are the parts that you would be removing:

People that have done them say they aren't hard, just time consuming. I figure it would be the same with removing it.

Instructions removal will be reverse.

That's what i though. (need new bolts).

Well i want a real suspension lift, but don't want to run 37'' tires. Stock i use to make 16.5L/100km, now with 34.6'' i'm at 21L/100km. So with 37 i should be around 24L/100km. And 9'' of lift with 34.6'' tires is to small for me. Even now i think they look small

That's just to much gas for nothing. My truck is my daily driver.

Thanks, it's just that i want more real ground clearance. So i'm looking for a 6'' suspension lift. But 9'' of lift with 34.6'' tires is to much lift.

I don't want to run 37'' tires and say bye to my millage.

I wouldn't buy the bolts from Ford. I would just find out what size you need and go to a hardware store such as Fastenal or similar. I am pretty sure it wouldn't cost very much. If you do go to Fastenal haggle the price, they will usually give a discount. I'm not sure what grade bolts Ford uses, but I would guess a grade 8 to be more than sufficient. From looking at the body lift instructions the bolts that come with the body lift are regular hex head, and look to be grade 5.

Im gonna be firm with my responce.

Its not gonna be worth takin the BL off. you will have to get all the new parts from FORD. All the old bushings and all. Its going to cost a bit. I wouldnt do it.

If you want "REAL GROUND CLEARANCE" the only way to do that is LARGER TIRES. Ground clearance is measure to the lowest point, the axles. The only way to raise this point is to put on bigger tires.

Imput my suggestion: Dont go with a 6" lift got with a Rancho 4" Lift that gives you 7" and you can run 35's or 36's and look great.

I think ATOM has a Rancho 4" lift and likes it alot, im not sure on that but i think he does.

4.2trimble, i was actually talking about under the frame. I know the real ground clearance is at the lowest part.

I completly forgot about the Rancho lift.

Does regearing really make a big difference on gas millage?

i wasnt trying to make you seem stupid i was just makin sure you realized that.

Regearing is for getting better MPG its for takin stress of the Tranny and engine. If done correctly you can have great gains in gas mileage. you will never get back to stock OVERALL do to rollin resistance, and drag but you can get better city mileage than you did stock. The thing with gears is that normally you will lose a mile or so a gallon on the highway but gain 5 or 6 in the city. so overall its an improvement.

Id much rather see you go with a 4 or 5" lift on top of the BL then take the BL off.

Well after looking at the instruction, no way i'm taking that off.

I guess 4'' rancho + 3'' body lift + real 35 or 36 would be perfect.

Oh and regear. I'm 80% of the time in the city.

haha lol.

Im not a big fan of Rancho, rough country, tough country or any of those brands because i broke a few of them on my ranger and bronco II.

Ive read good things about the rancho kit for the F150's i just wont ever give it a chance. they did have great customer service though.

with 80% City driving and 35-38" tires you can either go with 4.56 or 4.88's

Honestly id god with 4.88's just incase you do ever plan on moving up to a 37.

The 4.88's will give you more low end torque to the wheels.
