Im thinking about Doing Body lift and putting Sway-a-ways in the front
Hey everyone, I have been contemplating a lot of different suspension lift combinations and sizes. I just found a good deal on a set of adjustable Sway-a-way coilovers for up front. They adjust from 0-3". I am thinking doing those up front for a better ride and height and also doing a Body lift. I am only considering a body lift because many people have had good reviews about them on our trucks and I dont do alot of off-roading, if any, due to no legal place to do it where I live.
So doing little to no off-roading I think a body lift is a good, cheap way to lift my truck. I am on a budget and in college so money is definitely an issue. And I know many are going to say that sway-a-ways are about $1000 a set but I found someone that is getting rid of a set for $350, so definitely cheaper. Only want the coilovers for a more reliable, better performing/riding suspension without doing a full suspension lift. Let me know what you guys think, and I would be doing all the installing myself to save on cash. Thanks

If the coil-overs are in good shape that sounds like a great deal.
I don't have anything against body lifts, but if you can fit 35's with those adjusted to 2" or so, why bother with a body lift?
The body lifts for the newer body styles are expensive and VERY time consuming to install. The reason I used body lifts on rangers and stuff were because I wanted 33's and the suspension lifts were overpriced garbage that didn't improve ground clearance or wheel travel.
Plus the frame sits pretty low on the newer f150's anyway, you'd definitely atleast want steps to hide some of the frame.
I say get the coil-overs, an add-a-leaf and 35's and be happy with it. If you want a body lift after a while, then do it. No legal place to off road? Where do you live? Sounds horrible

I currently have a 2.5" leveling kit with 35" pro comp extreme at's on stock rims. I want more lift, I already can fit 35's. I live in Mt. Pleasant Michigan, and everything is farther north. Over 2 hours away, so have no place to off road. And I will be installing it myself.
Ah. Had no idea what you were running since you didn't post any info on your truck
The thing I will say about running bigger tires, plan on re-gearing. The engine and tranny life will suffer with stock gearing if you run 37's. I've been under-geared on trucks before and I hate it.
If you can't afford to re-gear, I wouldn't bother upsizing tires.
I did just see someones gallery with a leveling kit and body lift and it looked pretty decent with the steps to hide the frame. My body lifts normally came out looking okay with gap guards and modified hitches.

Yea I have the stock black steps that I will be keeping on to hide the frame. And I don't plan on going up to 37's. Just keeping my 35's for now.
Right now this is my setup.
- 2005 FX4
- 2.5" leveling kit
- 35" pro comp extreme at's
- edge programmer
- flowmaster
That's about it, just a few other little things.
I think this would be an interesting setup since no one has it.

You can't combine those coilovers with your leveling kit for more lift. You probably couldn't even get the front end bolted back together.

It should be closer than a 2 hour drive from MT. Pleasent. Also, you need to hit Silver Lake this summer if you get a chance. Not sure if you've ever been but it's pretty fun.
