What is the diff between 4x4 and fx4?

Skid plates are optional on XLT and most dealers order their stock with them. I thought the optional shocks went out in 04 and they were all the same, maybe not though.

 

it really just depends on what model 4x4 you look at. if your comparing a fx4 to a lariat 4x4. then it could be just shocks and probly interior color. it all depends on what you want, but the main difference is shocks. you can get the skidplate on any truck. my 4x4 had it when i bought it

 

Obviously skid plates, interior options and colors. Paint and 2-tone scheme, painted bumpers (one of my big wants, silly I know). Sexy wheels that fit 35s with a leveling kit. They may be some more but these were what were important to me.

 

In 04 the FX4 became a seperate trim package also including different grill, fender flares, etc.

 

I believe the standard rear axle in the FX4 also become 3.73 w/ limited slip. Still available in other trims, just standard on FX4.
