Blisteins or Quicklift?
Blisteins or Quicklift?
2008 F150 FX4 SCREW - Looking into Blistein shocks and the Rancho Quicklift to raise the front of my truck ~2".... to possibly replace level kit. Looking at keeping CV angles looking good - even when the weight is off the truck (yes, I have bottomed my truck out on a hill and the front suspension was fully out, not very pretty w/ my 3" LK)... Would one of these keep the front suspension from coming that far out? or rather too far out? and PHOTOS!!! looking for photos of a truck w/ either one of these and 33's or 35's... preferably 33's... Thanks!
Not mine, but a friends...
He HIGHLY recommended the bilsteins after running daystar spacers. He's set it at 2", stock rear, with 35x13's on factory 18's...
He said that the bilsteins give 1-2" of additional wheel travel over stock, ride much better, and do not bind the CV Joints or balljoints. His tires rub the control arms at full lock, but they're 13" wide...
This is with the suspension extended (obviously). Looks much better than with a 3" leveling kit.

That looks sick! That is EXACTLY what I want... Thank you!
I have a 2004 F150 Screw with the same strut front end. I bought Bilstein's and want to put them in myself. Do I need any special tools or spring compressors just to change the shock inside or can I just unscrew the top/bottom and use a 2 1/2 ton lift jack to raise/lower as needed pull out the old and put in the new??
Thanks,
Thanks,
Both are good products, but more members here have the Bilstiens.
Yes, you will need a heavy duty spring compressor to remove the coilsprings from your OEM coilover shocks and install them on the new coilovers.

Will either one of these prevent the supsension from dropping too far if I bottom out or hit a big bump off-road or something... cause basically the whole reason for me changing to this is so as not to overextend the CV axle in the front.

I'm sure they both will, but the bilsteins will for sure. Overall the bilsteins are 1-2" longer, so the shock will top out and limit travel before the CV's or anything bind.
One last and final question from me that will decide on the Bilstein or 3" BL for me: Will the Bilstein lift shocks set at 2" put my CV angles (I know the Bilstein set at 2" will wear out ball joints, etc a little faster than stock) too severe for offroad usage. Keep in mind I like to go offroad as much as I can, but Im more of the weekend warrior type. I like mud, trails, and eventually want to hit the beach with my new truck, like I did with my old truck. Thanks-

I say Bilstien. I was a Rancho fanatic for years until I realized most aftermarket suspension companies use the same shocks with different stickers. Without a doubt the best shock for a light truck is Bilstien.
ok, so here's the deal... I am going w/ the PA 3" Body Lift this coming spring. I will put tires on sometime.... hopefully at the same time... I may do the Bilsteins at some point as well, maybe late 09/early '10. I'll post some photos whenever I do it... but nomatter what I will get rid of the 3" level kit
