Smile alignment questions

Hey guys, new to this type of thing, just got a 2001 ford f-150 super crew with a fabtech lift, was told it is a 6 inch lift. my questions, the kit seems to be made of new upper control arms, new large springs in front, with fab tech shocks, my question, if i need an alignment, do i have adjustments for camber and caster, and toe in and out? my driver side wheel seems to be angled in at the top as well as the passenger side tire as well, however the truck drives straight and smooth even at high speeds, but looks like the way the wheels are angled my tires will wear unevemly. I took it to one shop, they said they couldnt align as the idler arm was bad, doesnt look bad to me but i will replace it, any information would be appreciated, basically I need to know what can be aligned and what would cause the angled tires, I think that is called negative or positive camber? Thanks! Hope i didnt talk to much!

shops should have no problems aligning your truck with the kit

does that mean the kit has alignment allowances for all 4 specifications? I heard frod trucks do not have alignment options for camber and caster, that you might have to buy some add on kit? Anyone know anything about this?

You can buy adjustable camber bolts. I don't know if the Fabtech lift includes these. Look at your upper control arms. The camber bolts are used to mounted these to the frame. The adjustable ones have a large offset washer mounted on the head.

When I put the Fabtech Lift on my truck it came with the adjustable Camber bolts with the large offset washer mounted on the head, it is very critical that the alingment is right trust me I made this mistake and it is very expensive when your tires get haft the tread life worn off because the shop did not do the alingment right, I called around and talked to alot of people with lifted vehicles in my area and found a different shop that has a good rep for doing quality work and they fixed the alingment like it should have been done in the first place and I havent had any more problems with uneven wear on the tires, hope this helps

toe in and out is adjusted on the tie rods
camber and caster is adjusted with the bolts on the top of the upper control arm

from what you are describing sounds like you have too much negative camber

you may or may not need the camber bolts (like wandell said)

You can tell the shop to get the toe and camber correct, and not worry about caster, since its not a tire wearing angle
