Alignment

Hey Everyone. I have been a reader of this forum for a while and have found some very helpful tips here that has kept my 99 f150 screw 4x4 (4.6L) with 128k running smooth. I have a question concerning an accident i was involved in the other day. I was hit while stopped at 4 way stop by a car that blew the stop sign. The car actually hit another vehicle in the intersection before colliding with me. The car hit the center of my front bumper. I took it into a dealership body repair shop (suggested by the insurer of the car that hit me) and they informed me that the bumper, fender and grill need to replaced and that some "setup and pulling" will be required on the frame. They told me that my alignment should be fine since the frame damage was in front of the suspension.

Is this true? Can a collision be strong enough to tweak my frame but not affect my alignment? Thanks in advance for any input.

Pat

If you are not having to pay for it and that is what they are recommending then odds are they are not ****ing you around on it. It is possible for the frame to be bent without throwing off alignment. The trucks have crumple zones to help keep you safe, so I would think it entirely possible. Sorry to hear about the accident glad all is well, hope it all gets settled for you.

I had a 99 f150 lifted on 35's and had a accident. I hit a Honda minivan that stopped suddenly on the light ice covered road. I had a trailer with my quads on it and could not stop in time. Sorry for the rambling, as for your question yes it is possible for it to have not tweeked the alignment. But, keep in mind if the person that hit yous' insurance told you to go to this bodyshop then they do alot of business with them. So they are more willing to look out for the insurance company then you. After all if the alignmant is off or the frame is bent and you sign off on the repair then good luck getting some done about it when you find it. I would not let them get away without checking the alignment. It will cost them very little and you are protecting youself from future issues. Just my 2 cents.....
