97-03 Leveling...

Is there any advantage or Disadvantage to using keys to lift the front of my truck compared to just Cranking My Torsion Bars? I am not sure how the keys work.

Thanks
- Corey

They just re-index the torsion bar to give you more leverage. It is essentially cranking the torsion bars, only more. It will ride a lot more stiff, and the suspension will top out frequently on even small bumps. If they do get compressed hard, they will twist more than designed and could break (worst case) or start to sag and ride lower (most likely).

The aftermarket keys are a waste of money. They do the same thing as cranking up your torsion bars with the oem keys, except they allow you to go way to far.

Just locate the torsion bar coming off the lower control arm and follow it back toward the cab of the truck. The adjustment key/bolt is at the end of the torsion bar where it mounts in the crossmember.

Does raising the torsion bars weaken anything or make the truck ride differently? I have been wanting to level my 1998 F150 out so I can put a size bigger tires on and have it look good.

as i posted earlier it will just make your ride a bit stiffer thats it and you will be to get an alignment afterwards though.

the torsion bar crank will not weaken anything. it will stiffen the ride some, and may put the ball joints/ cv axle shafts at a less than ideal angle. i've offroaded my truck pretty hard a couple times, and just tore the cv boots after having the bars cranked all the way for like two years of no problems.
