I paid $800 for all the ball joints in my E350 van last week. I did all the tie rods in it myself a couple of years ago. Probably should have done the ball joints myself to but I just didnt want to. I rebuilt the entire front end on my car replaced every single part Think I spent $1500 on parts. Brakes and everything.
Front end stuff is allot easier then some might think. I sometimes just dont want to do stuff. Wish I could find a good mechanic. $500 is a great deal for ball joints.

its not to difficult to replace them, it shouldnt be more than 200 for all the parts. if your paying more than that your getting ripped off on parts alone. the labor charge seems very fair. the dealer by my house charges 40 a peice for the lowers. Just an idea of what some of the prices should be, and the lowers are bigger than the uppers if im not mistaken.

For anyone that is doing work on thier truck and is having an issue tighing up the ball joins you will notice on the end of the ball joint where you would thread a nut onto, you can get a wrench onto it as if it where a 6 point nut, i beleive its a 10 or 11mm but i dont remember exactly, just thread the nut till the bottom of the ball join is sticking out enough for you to get ahold of it and you would be able to tighten the nut right up with a wrench. just a pointer incase anyone didnt know that.

I have a 2004 f150 and I cant find the moog upper ball joints anywhere. Advance auto sells them but are out of stock and say they have no idea when they can get more. Orileys sells them but they are out of stock of the passenger side ones. The part numbers are K80308 and K80306. Can anyone find them? Is there a good grease-able alternative to the moogs?

referee54, i dont know what year your truck is, or if you already got the replacement done, but for anyone else out there with worn out ball joints: If you do some offroading, you might consider the Camburg a-arm and ball joint replacement for about $800 you can get an a-arm and ball joint thats built to go offroad, and if you dont go offroad, I don't see how you could ever wear the Camburg out (so still might be a good investment) - probly never need to replace them again
