3 inch body lift bad or good
 

im planning on installing it om my 05 f150 good idea or bad cant go suspension to exspensive and please post pics so i can see how it would look like thanks and would i be able to fit 35s

a spacer kit would be cheaper than a B/L and alot less time consumin if you wanna look into that

I started with a leveling kit and after i added a body lift. All in all, i should have put a 6'' suspension lift... In the end it's almost the same price, but the suspension lift look better.Don't forget that the installation for the body lift cost a lot...

Close to 800$ for installation + 450$ for the body lift + 100$ for the gap guard + 180$ for the leveling kit + 100$ for leveling kit installation.All Canadian price. So 16xx$ in total, you can find suspension lift for that price...

Leveling kit + body lift = 35'' fit with minor rubbing. Well with my wheel setup (17x9 with 5'' of back spacing)

if you're not going to do the install yourself with some buddies, you're really not saving much paying for a body lift, gap guards, install, versus a basic 6'' procomp and installing it yourself...

remember true clearance is only gained by picking up the axles. this is only accomplished via bolting on oversized tires. however, the suspension lift and 35's has the advantages of increased track width, more frame to ground clearance, increased suspension travel, retention of the ideal suspension angles, better cosmetics, etc vs. a body lift, a leveling kit, and 35's.

That's exactly why i want to add a 6'' suspension lift and take off my leveling kit. 6'' suspension lift + 3'' body lift and 37'' would be perfect... exept on gas :lol:

i'm in the same boat on my truck, I have a 3'' body lift on it now, and am unhappy w/ the roughness in ride from cranking the torsion bars all the way, in addition to the damage done to my cv's and ball joints. i'm actually planning on taking the body lift off (myself) and bolting on a 6'' suspension lift because of the benefits i mentioned. that way my truck won't look ridiculous w/ 9'' and 35's, lol.

Atleast yours ain't the 04 +. No way i'm taking off the body lift on my truck. The shop took 12 hours to put it on. :p

But maybe i'll save the money and change the truck in 1 or 2 years for a diesel F250 or F150 ecoboost... I'll see.

There are some crazy prices on this forum. My bodylift cost me $750 installed that's about $350 for the install. The leveling kit is only $120 with maybe $100 install. Depending on your budget, that is way cheaper than getting a suspension lift plus install, but I would recommend the suspension lift if you can afford it. 35's will work easy with this setup if you have a 4X4, if not just a little trimming should do the trick for a 2WD.

or you could just buy some bigger tires lol. After installing my body lift myself, I really don't think I'd want to take mine off any time soon. Way too much of a pain in the ass.

Hey Cashel, we are going to have to meet up when I get back from Iraq, maybe get together a bunch of us on here with lifted F-150's.

Cashel, I can't afford the fuel, or at least i think i can't. maybe i'll travel convert to the dark side with some 38'' BFG KM2's, or Toyos. Regearing is another expense, maybe you can see if your friend will hook me up on an install. R+R would be no problem for me.

I have a level kit and a 3in body lift ... 35" tires...wheels have 4.5" back spacing ... alot of trimming was needed to make the tire rub go away... heres some pics for ya !!:thumbsup:

Im not sure why people say that by the time you pay for a body lift, leveling kit, and installation of those you could have just got the suspension lift. I say BS. Heres the reasons.
1. Most 04+ suspension lifts ive seen are close to 2k
2. After that 2k you still have to pay for install. (if the person is gonna pay for install of a body lift he's probably gonna pay to install the suspension lift)
3. Most suspenion lifts require a certain backspacing/offset wheel leveling kits and body lifts can retain stock wheels if need be.
4. the suspension lift install will run 500+ depending on the shop.

Fact of the matter is you can pay for parts and intall of a BL+leveling kit and still not add up to the amount of a suspension lift and install.

But unless you install the body lift and leveling kit yourself its not really worth it. I would never pay that amount of money for that. Just save up and get the rest of the money for a suspension lift and install. if you cant install the body lift

Several people here have found the standard 6 inch Pro Comp lift for right at $1000. A lot have also had suspension kits installed for about $500.
The PA body lift for the 04-08's is about $300 and several people have paid around $1000to have a body lift installed.

even on the 97-03's several people have reported paying $700 out the door for a body lift install... i bought a used fabtech for that price. just sayin'...:smoke:
