steering rack question

I just came from my local service station where I had an inspection done on my 05 f150 4wd supercrew. Mechanic says the shaft that comes out of the driver side rack is 'jumpy' when the steering wheel moves. He says it isnt wet or leaking. When the engine is on it seems to move much less.

I only have 36000 on this vehicle

anyone else have/ know of, a similar issue?
