Everyone will give you their own lift kit as the "best" one, so opinions will vary here.

I will not call my lift the best, but i will say it was most "practical" for me, and exactly what i was looking for. What i wanted was:
-a kit that came with replacement shocks all around, not a big goofy spacer up front.
-no stacked rear blocks.
-a solid, sturdy construction with a nice looking corssmember (that is also protective).
-one that sat perfectly level, with all 4 wheel wells the exact same height.
-something that would ride as smooth as stock but still take abuse offroad, as my truck sees a lot of offroad use in winter for hunting and in summer for firewood runs.
-and most importantly, a fair price.

The Fabtech basic 6" lift fit the bill perfectly for me. It achieved all of those things. i picked it up for 1500 bucks, which is cheaper than a lot of lower quality kits sell for.

My truck is also a 04 4x4 Lariat, like yours. And welcome to the site!!!

Where did you get yours for $1500? I've only seen that kit going for $2000, where as the Pro Comp Stage 1 is going for about $1500.

I agree that everyone is going to say that their lift is the best lift... just like we say that Ford makes the best trucks, America is the best country, my dad is bigger than your dad. I figured I would give you another choice. I have a pro-comp stage II 6". I wanted as much height with the option of going up to 7 - 8" if I wanted to with the coil overs. Right now I think its at about 7" with an AAL in the back and 35" tires. Here are some pictures so you can compare I guess. Pro Comp and Fab Tech are both great lifts and I think either way you lift is a personal decision.

This is my truck as I bought it... front end damage and stock everything...

too much money later I had this

Mainly so I could play like this

and this

and this

See, I live up in the mountains and 10 feet off my road I can go mudding, rock climbing, etc. So I use my equipment a couple times a week when I get bored. It all depends on what you are going to use your lift for I guess.

No matter what lift you do make sure its what you really want so you don't regret it. I can honestly say that I have never regretted purchasing my truck or the $$$ I spent on accessorizing (not a real word) it.

Good luck

hey msall150 and darkknight08 thanks for your opinion on the 6inch lift kits. i have called around a few places and they have said procomp comes with better shocks than fabtech. but it could be there opinion too, but what i have seen I love the procomp lift that you have darkknight and i was wondering what other parts you have as well with the 6inch lift. Such as any other socks in front leaf whells tires ect. Also the $ please.

thanks alot for your opinions

Like most of the others above, I went with the fabtech. I did LOTS of comparison shopping and comparing features. There are so many posts on this topic on here that it could take days ot read them all. Id say it breaks down to about 60% fabtech owners, 25% procomp, and then a small mixing of cst, rize, etc (those were too damn expensive for me)
The fabtech is 2-300 more than the procomp, but you will see a lot better kit and more features for that small amount of money.
If you were POSITIVE you were only using it for a street truck, you will be fine with the procomp, even if you went light offroading occasionally. But I have seen bent blocks on the procomp from offroad use.
I think I got mine for about 1500 too, and then I paid 200 more for the dual stearing stabilizers.
Do a search and you will find hundreds of ppl defending all brands. You have to pick what is right for you, but I would never get anything else except fabtech in the future. Been great for me so far. Procomp does make a stage 2 kit which is a very good kit, but more than the Fabtech. Good luck deciding, it took me 3 months ot make the choice....

NOt sure how ot post pics, but Ill give it a try.
THis is the 6" fabtech lift, 2" front spacers, and 1.5" rear leveling kit. So a total of 8" with 35x12.50.18 Procomp Xtreme A/T's.

the fabtech also comes with a rear driveshaft spacer, and a much better looking front crossmember which is my biggest beef with the procomp.
