Financially- No, bad investment, but anytime you throw money into a vehicle its not a good investment as they depreciate rather quickly.

Are you going to hold onto the truck and get $5k worth of enjoyment and pleasure from it? If the answer is yes, then go do it. If its something you really wanna do, then go for it. MY experience is that if you have the opportunity and its something you want to do then do it as long as you have the means.

I'd suggest getting a body lift and instaling it yourself. You should be able to do that for about $100.00

No I don't think Im gonna hang on to it for a long time. Ive had it for almost two years and Iwant a newer lifted truck. So Im not to sure that I should invest money into it if Im gonna get rid of it soon.

Save up. Then plan it. When you get your new truck, then mod with precision. You should have everything all mapped out as to what to install first. My recommendation is to first get your truck ready for the lift. Think about parasitic loss at the engine. Then consider gearing. Intake & exhaust will also add more power to your wheels. A programmer will do wonders. When you've got everything ready performance wise, then the bigger wheels and tires won't be such a drag on your power and mileage.

Well if your considering buying a newer truck then I'd suggest saving your money.

Not a chance, if you can afford a $5k lift you can afford a newer truck. If you can't afford new, sell the $2k truck and save the $5k from the lift. Then buy a $5k truck and put $2k into a lift and tires. EIther way it adds up to $7k, but one will have much more value than the other.

Although I have a lifted daily driver...I'd say buy the new truck and make your old truck a play truck. There's nothing like beating the **** out of your rig and not worrying if you will make it to work on Monday. Sometimes I wish I would have sunk 5g's into a bronco instead of my truck.
However, it is nice pulling up someplace in a new lifted truck...

Spend more on mods than the car is worth? That's for those Honda clowns. You might as well install a spoiler to create down-force on a front wheel drive, and add stickers to generate horsepower & strike fear into other drivers on the road. I've got a GReddy sticker across my windshield.
