First truck
First truck
I just turned 16 and got my first truck. Black 03 2wd f150.Dual flowmaster exhaust, k&n air filter system. i have been told it is bad to lift a 2wd. is that true? i want to put bigger wheels and tires on it and lift it a few inches. But i dont want to do it if it will hurt the truck or look bad.
It's not going to hurt the truck. Some people just don't see the point in lifting a 4x2 truck. Truth is, it's cheaper to lift a 4x2 truck because there are less parts you've got to deal with up front.
I agree with Cashel. Nothing wrong with lifting a 4x2. Even if you do a Body Lift it won't look bad if you do it correctly. You'll want Gap Guards to hide the space between the frame and bed above the wheel wells. And if you do a body lift, your exhaust will not move, so you will probably want to have it moved up.
If you go with a suspension lift, you won't have to worry about any of this but it will be more expensive.
Personally, I'm a "Lift 4x4s and lower 4x2's" kinda guy but I've seen some awesome looking lifted 4x2s on this site that would make me reconsider if I ever did get a 4x2. It's mainly for looks but would help a little if you do off road at all.
