Harley Davidson AWD vs. F150 4wd

I currently have a 04 f150 on 36's and its 4wd with 2high, 4high, 4low. I am wanting to buy a harley f150 that says to be "AWD". My question is... Whats the difference? Would i be able to mud ride or lift up the harley the same as i did my truck? Do they make a a harley with 2high, 4high, 4low? Any info on this mess would be great.

The biggest difference is the AWD truck can use AWD on dry pavement. You will still be able to lift it like a standard 4x4.

The AWD trucks do not have a low range or a true transfer case, only the AWD mode and 4h. This picture is from a Harley AWD truck...

So, you can lift them like any other F150, but if you use the 4Lo a lot (which I suspect you might with 36's), it may not be a good option.

the AWD has a clutch pack in the transfer case to allow it to "slip" to prevent binding. it also gets a litlle less fuel economy and you lose the "fun factor" of a rear wheel drive vehicle...i personally wouldnt want one. My .02

what is the "fun factor" of 2wd? spinning the tires or donuts or what? i dont do any of that anyway. i really dont care for going in the mud either but just like it being big. 24's with 38's is probably not going in the mud. but im not trying to be smart just wondering what the 2wd offers for fun.

I am pretty sure all 04-08 F150's have the ****, regardless of model...at least I have not seen one otherwise.

the point in doing it in a lifted truck is that it just looks so much more bad *** spinning some 38's than some little bitch tires.

No doubt the 4.88 gears help that out a little.

true true true.... My truck has 3:73 gears. so would switching to 4:88 gears, would that save gas? or is it just for better use having the big tires.

Probably help a little on gas mileage around town since it would work less to get rolling, but on the highway, it depends, because with lower gears (higher number), the RPM's will be higher.

If I had oversized tires and a lift, I would definitely get lower gears though to improve performance and driveability.
