Ordering 6" Fabtech lift very soon...

Alright after much saving and trying to put away enough money so when I do order my lift and wheels tires later on I won't be broke....I am about to pull the trigger on a 6" Fabtech lift. Keep in mind I have a 2000 F150 4x4 with a 5.4

One of the best prices I have found is $1,700 and that includes shipping and a Fabtech steering stabilizer. Do you think I can do better than that or does that sound about right? Any advice let me know, because I will most likely be ordering very very soon. Also, I know winter is comming up soon...I live in CT...I was thinking about just using the stock wheels and tires through winter and then getting my new wheels and tires in the spring so they don't start getting crapped up early on. If that is the case should I even bother putting the lift on now or just wait till winter is over and do everything?

Honestly, I'd wait till winter was over. And do it all together. As far as cost ? Im not sure on the 2000 models . Where did you get your lowest price from ? If not Sportztrailers get josh a call . Im sure he'll give you a good deal . There on ebay as well . I dont have his number handy or id post it . in sure others will chime in on this . good luck !

Yeah that price was from Sportztrailers....seemed pretty fair. I just want the thing lifted soon.. I am sick of waiting, but not sure if winter salt and whatnot will start eat at the lift not long after I do it.....but I am guessing they are pretty durable ?

Its Just going to look a little Phunny with stock wheels and tires . If you can even use them with that lift ? You better check that out as well . Just something to think about .

good call on the stock wheels, the backspacing may not work. salt and everything shouldn't bother the lift they are durable. we have some pretty good snow and lots of salt on the roads in the winter here it had no effect on my lift

on the 97-03 models, fabtech says you can use the stock wheels/tires. the truck will look like its on stilts though, with 32'' stock tires!

Yeah the stock wheels might funny, but it wouldn't be for very long....just temporary until I decide exactly what wheels and tires I want and to save just a little more cash. I have seen it done before and didn't think it looked all that bad.

But is that a decent price for the lift? I really haven't seen much cheaper than about 1600 when you factor in shipping.

I am also thinking about doing the **** Cepek DC-1 Black and BFGoodrich KM2 Muds. Either 16x10 or 17x9.

yes, that is a decent price for the lift... I assume you will be doing the install yourself? IFS lifts like the Fabtech 6'' are not cheap... remember exactly what it is that you are doing, picking up the whole frame via new crossmembers, steering knuckles, etc. The lower control arm/torsion bar crossmembers are dropped down thus mandating the need for longer shocks. Picking up an IFS truck is known to not be cheap or easy. why do you think so many people settle for just a body lift?

that's what i have now, and regret not going with the 6'' suspension. i eventually plan on taking down the body lift, and bolting on the fabtech kit. i have no interest in stacking them and going with 37's on my DD b/c of fuel concerns. anyway, sounds like you have a level head on your shoulders.

Yeah my truck is not really a daily driver anymore. I have to do 80 miles a day roundtrip to work, so I have a beater car for that. I have always wanted to lift the truck, but never really had the money until now, but I am still trying to be conservative with my spending....I want a house in a couple years from now, so I don't want to blow all my money.

and yeah I am not really looking to go much bigger than 35's or so on this thing. I am probably not doing the lift myself, just because I don't really have the time or all the tools I might need. My friend knows some mechanics next to his business that work on his truck and said they would give me a really good price cause they are always in need of work and have a lift at their shop. At this point all I really want to do is the lift and new wheels and tires....and regear in the future.....possibly redo the exhaust again, but other than that no, because I don't want to dump tons of money in a almost 10 year old vehicle, even though I will probably keep it for quite a while longer!
