O lord, another leveling kit question

I apologize for this because I know there are tons of threads out there about leveling kits, but I've been searching this forum and doing research for a while. I just wanted to clear up my thoughts and make sure I'm on the right track, as I'm not too knowledgeable about these things.

The 2.5" AS is very popular on this forum and I'm definitely going to level soon. Just to be safe, however, I measured this evening and the height difference is closer to 2". I am assuming this means I only need the 2" leveling kit? If this is the case AS does make a 2" kit, correct?

Also I'm currently riding on stock tires with the OEM 18" rims ('07 FX4 SCAB). Come January I will be buying a set of BFG KM2s (been reading good things). I've read that you can clear 35s with the OEM wheels on a leveling kit. I'm assuming most are talking about leveling with the 2.5" kit when they say the 35s will clear. Will they clear with the 2" kit?

Yes, AS makes a 2 inch kit and you can fit 35x12.50's with a 2 inch kit and the oem wheels.

Thanks for the quick response and I appreciate the help. Just wanted to clarify what I thought before doing it. You have a trend of answering these threads really quick. Usually you're the first reply I see.

i would go with the 2 1/2" anyways and then do a slightly larger block in the rear if you want a little extra height.

and THANK YOU for atleast searching before you just post. when i first joined i was like why does every one get so pissy about questions asked multiple times. i now understand after seen this question a million times.

Actually I considered the rear block as I've read they aren't too hard to install. Does AS also makes one of those? Do they have a website? I see everyone saying to get their leveling kit on eBay but I was looking for them tonight and couldn't find any. Maybe I'm missing something...

And I laughed at the second part of your post. I frequent a couple of non-truck-related forums and it's very common for people to post the same questions over and over. I'm used to the game. Believe me when I tell you I've been searching and browsing every thread possible on all kinds of topics on here. For the past month it's been non-stop information!

you can do a 3" rear block. stock is 1 1/2" i believe. get one with a bump stop. not positive what to suggest to buy tho. maybe a block from a pro comp kit? sorry for not being to much help. and install is EXTREMELY EASY. if you want to stiffen up your ride a bit in the rear i would suggest an AAL over the block. i added my AAL and love it. not hard to install at all. took me about 3 hrs with a friend slacking off. truck feels a little stiffer but alot better around turns and does not sag as much when i load it down now.

Good to hear it's simple to install. I will look into that as my next research topic on here, haha. Thanks!

OT question: Do I have to have a certain # of posts for my signature to show up? If I recall I saw that somewhere but I don't see it in the FAQ.

The factory block is 2 inches. I'm not sure where you can find a 3 inch block with a bumpstop. Both Superlift and Pro-Comp have "shim kits" that bolt to your spring pack. They add up to 1.5 inches in .5 inch increments.

Also, where did you measure from? From the top of the fenderwell? The front and rear fenderwells are different sizes.

Measured as shown. If this is incorrect please let me know. I'm here to learn!

I agree.....that's where the truck "looks" most level. But it's an optical illusion. The front and rear wheel wells are different heights. A "level" truck will have a smaller measurement at the back than at the front.

I was just wanting to point out.....if his fender gap difference is 2 inches, he could add a 2.5 inch, without having to worry about the back end being lower. Though it probably would look "better" with another inch in the back........it wouldn't look "bad" with only the 2.5 up front.

Thanks for that tidbit of info, I was unaware that they were not the same dimensions. Looks like I'll be going with the 2.5". If it looks too high then I'll add the rear blocks!
