take out bottom leaf to lower?
i just put 2" drop shackles on my 2004 screw and it dropped it bout 2" but need bout 2" more...when i had a s-10 years ago i took out the bottom thick leaf spring and it dropped 2" inches or so... has anyone tried this on there truck? i have a total of 4 leafs and dont haul anything with truck.. really tight on budget, just curious.. thanx guys
yes the very bottom one (shorter) spring is the overload spring. Its about 3/4" thick and will drop you that much. you will need to put a shorter bolt through the leaf pack to clear the perch on top.
Removing the spring will, soften the ride slightly, and reduce payload, and should NEVER be overloaded without it, or you can cause major spring damage.
BTW i have mine out (03 F150), took my buddies out of his 04 dodge ram, and took them out of Jwool15's 05 F150
