Superlift F.I.T. 4.5"-6" kit!! Anyone else have one??
I know this belongs in the aftermarket section. But this one seems to get more traffic.....so I figured I'd post it here as well.
I put one of the new Stupidlift......I mean Superlift kits a few weeks ago. Just curious if anyone else had one.......what they thought of the kit and if they also found it nearly impossible to install as per instructions.
The only thing I used out of the box was the knuckles and crossmembers.....threw everything else out. I used new coilovers, brakelines, etc. I'll post some detailed pics when I get everything completed. I'm still waiting on some stuff.........like the wheels I ordered a month ago......

Hey Red Neck......nice truck! Of course, I may be a little biased towards Supercab Flairsides......
Pimp.....how you like the Dirtlogics? I went with Bilsteins. I have them set at their lowest setting while I'm waiting for my wheels to get here. The truck is actually riding on the bumpstop! (see pic below) If everything works right, I should be able to set the truck up at about 7 inches of lift and still have full wheel travel. I know the upper ball joints aren't gonna like this.......but I bought the 100,000 mile Ford E.S.P. and my dealer says they don't care if the truck has a lift or not. So, we'll see how this works out.
And what do you have on the back? I have a 5" RCD block. Right now the truck is sitting about the way I want it. So I'm gonna have to do something when the front goes up another 2.5 inches. I was gonna throw that add-a-leaf away, but it looks like I may have to use it.
What about brake lines? I bought some stainless steel lines.....but they wouldn't even bolt onto the caliper. ......still trying to figure that one out.
Also, did either of you guys have to grind your steering stops? I lost an entire half turn of steering in both directions. The tie rod doesn't hit my factory 18's, but it comes close. When my 20's get here, I'm gonna grind the stops down. I can't even make a u-turn on a 6 lane highway!!!

i almost went with superlift but it was backordered for about a year it seemed like when i was trying to get it. i got the rancho instead and im glad i did. did you install it yourself? how hard was it? The welding didn't appeal to me very much

No welding was required. The install went "OK". There were several things they "goofed" in the instructions and supplied hardware. But, that is true to most other lift kits as well. This kit had the potential to be the best kit on the market.....if you didn't want any more than 6 inches of lift(the "true" 6 inch kits can be set to 8 inches). It has a REAL skid plate, the most ground clearance, doesn't widen the track width, has the "beefiest" knuckles and crossmembers, doesn't drop the rack and pinion, and allows you to run stock wheels. But, they also had to make it cost competitive......so the rest of the stuff in the kit isn't very "exciting". So, I used the best stuff and threw out the rest.
Are you running your Rancho at 4 or 6 inches? I like the M/T's!! You hardly ever see them anymore.........which is why I ordered a set for my truck =P

just 4", i would have liked to have the 4.5 from superlift but i waited for months and months and eventually canceled my order because i was tired of waiting. I like the rancho though, it was a easy install and the 1 piece sub frame is very strong. Has its good points and a few bad though. I swore i read that you had to weld on the crossmember but i must have been mistaken, that was the only part i didn't like about it. And yeah, i love the M/T's. I am a big fan of mod wheels so i had to have the best. They look great and its nice to have something that not a lot of other people are putting on thiers. You'll have to get some pics up when you get your wheels and tires on!
I like the way the Rancho kit has new front shocks, brake lines, and cast rear block. That's some of the things the Superlift kit was lacking. And being able to run factory wheels is always a plus!!
I got the 20x10's with with 35" Toyo's. The wheels have 6" of backspacing, which was exactly what I wanted. And you can only run a wheel with that much backspacing on a Superlift or Rancho. I had originally ordered some wheels with a little more "bling-bling". But they just weren't me. So I sold em on Ebay. Hopefully the M/T's will be in some time next week.

F150monster, lift kits are usually rated by how far they drop the lower control arms. The actual increase in ride height isn't always the same amount. The ride height could be M as much as 2 inches off in either direction. So it's very possible for one persons "4 inch" lift to be the same height as another's "6 inch" lift. For example, I have a "4.5 inch" lift kit. My lower control arms are dropped 4.5 inches. But, if I wanted, I can set-up my truck with as much as 7 inches of lift. Now, if someone had a Pro-Comp "6 inch" lift.....and their shocks weren't setup just right, or their springs were sagging slightly, they may only have 5 inches of lift. So, theoretically, it's possible for my truck with a "4 inch" lift to sit 2 inches higher than someone else with a "6 inch" lift.
