**HELP, Bilstein Question**

I just dropped my truck off to get the bilstein 5100 leveling shocks installed, and the guy at the shop doesnt know if the big plate that attaches to my spring comes off my old shocks. I think they come off the old shock, cause i called the off road store i bought them from and at the time they said that was all i needed.

Anybody know anything about this?

If your talking about what I think you are then yes you need that plate. I'm not so sure if I'd want a guy that couldn't figure that out (as it's pretty self explanatory) to be working on my truck.

he knows i need the plate, he just didnt think it would come off my old shock, he thought they were welded on, my question was, do you use the stock plate or should i have bought one?

Where are you getting this done?

So I can steer people far, far, far away from this shop.

It also should be pretty obvious that it comes off. I installed the shocks on my truck and it was a straight forward install. Anyway, you use the stock plate, no need to buy anything else

Thanks, im getting it done at a 4x4 off road shop out here in Arkansas, i didnt have a lot of options, they gave me a real good price on my tires (which they are installing) and they are local, so we'll see.

How about I get you the info and my "review" after everything is done. Im not doubting the shops ability to do work, because if i did, i wouldnt be giving them buisness. The guy that came out and got the shocks from me asked the question, he might have walked right into the shop and got an answer from the other tech, i dont know. He might not even be a mechanic. So, after the tires and leveling shocks get put on, ill post up how everything looks, and went.

That's cool.

You just made it sound a lot worse in your original post.
