Ball joint ?s

i know my lower ball joints are completely shot. after inspecting today i noticed at least the drivers side upper is leaking.

my question is, are the uppers pressed in on the OBS 150s or can i just swap the ball joints in my driveway?

The uppers are a one piece assembly with the control arms. When you buy replacements you get a new upper control arm and ball joint.

ive had one lower replaced so far (im at 98k or so). i know the lowers were treated badly during installation of the lift and i just wanted it on without having to go get new ones (it was after 10 and i needed the truck the next day). i dragged my control arms a few times by the torsion bar and they hit the ground a few times. not hard but enough to kill the ball joints.

i dont know how long the uppers have been bad and it was probably the lift that did that again cuz i was frustrated, hot and didnt care so i hit them a few times to get the knuckles to drop.

wait, i remember looking at the uppers when i was putting the knuckles on and everything was good then. i guess the increased stress has caused them to go as well.

Yes, all four of mine were replaced. Trust me, if one is worn out the others are not far behind.

The replacement Motorcraft ball joints the dealer installed on mine have zerk fittings. Makes you wonder why they didn't use them in the first place.

They saved .02 cents by not zerking them. Same reason we don't have cv joints and have ujoints on the driveshafts. Saved $5. lol

lol yea i know i work at a oil changin joint and i have to grease up everything that comes in, damn chevys have 60 hunderd trillion, some trucks even have them on the drive shafts, and POS yotas have like 3 on the shaft, and yea they saved all that money (lol) on not zerkin them and no cvjoints or u joints and when they go out we have to pay 600485116846516 dollars to get them replaced!!! ohh and older buicks and stuff have zerks on the rear as well as the front just fyi

I came back to Ford because they were covered under my extended warranty. They came up with almost a $900 shop bill for 4 ball joints, an idler arm and alignment. I was just saying the ones Ford replaced my oem units with have zerk fittings.

Yeah, dealerships are high, but it didn't cost me anything. My extended warranty almost paid for itself on that one claim.
