Approx how many hours will it take a shop to install?

M hockey - You're right. I was just trying to find out from those that may have had a 6+3 installed on how long it took (labor hour wise...regardless of how many days). One of my closest friends has relative that owns a shop that does lifts and will hook me up for $35/hr. I don't know how long it takes and not sure if $35/hr is a good deal. I'm just trying to see what labor would approximately cost me for this job. His relative is on travel so I can't get an answer. So I thought I'd get a round about one here.
Edit: Ah didn't see Dark Knight's response. Ok so maybe 15 hrs? That's all I needed to know. Yes this shop does quite a few lifts on a regular basis (from what I'm told).

$35 an hour for labor is a really good price IMO. I'm guessing even if they d*cked off and went slow, you wouldn't be looking at more than 20 hrs labor for both. If they know what they are doing of course.
Still, that's $700 in labor by my guestimate...maybe $800 total if you add another 3 on top of the 20. I'd go for it if you can't do the labor yourself.

I was told this buy the shop that wanted 700 to install my body lift.
The only hope you can get is that they will give you a discount on labor cost since you cant do both lifts at once. It has to be done 1 at a time.
Id say its gonna run you close to 1500 for install but thats just a geuss.
BTW 1500 will buy you new gears and have them installed.

I just got my truck back today! I had my 6 inch lift put on.
It cost me 450 for suspension and a while back it cost me 700 for the body lift.
How much has the average price been to put gears in a 4x4 truck??
Because the place I went wants to charge me 150 for the rear and 250 for the front
and the gears are running about 200 a piece!

Heres the big thing with dealing with shops. When they do lifts or anything that has an "estimated time" to install and comes with complete instructions. They have to follow EVERY instruction and they must finish right on the estimated hours or exceed that.

installs don't generally run cheap, you're getting a good deal. if you don't want to pay as much as you were offered, look into doing it yourself if you want it done right. a lift install is not something you want to want performed by someone incompetent.
that being said, install isn't that hard on these. if you have done engine work, you could certainly do a body lift. all you do, basically is unbolt everything that holds the body to the frame, jack it up 3'' off the frame, and put in the spacer blocks/longer bolts. not that hard, just a time consuming job. i've never installed a suspension lift before, but that isn't that daunting to me, either.

That is stupid cheap! I would jump on that in a heart beat! I have been quoted 1400-1500 to install them in mine! Gears being 200 a piece approx. install kits bearings and fluid adds up to approx 200-400 depends on how well you are at shopping around. And then the labor rates were 60 an hour I know the guy so I get them at 35 and I got quoted 390 an axle. The front differential is very very labor intensive. So whoever quoted that has either never done them on a ford or you are very very lucky. I wish I was in your shoes right now I am jealous!
