Rear leafs on 97 f-150

I have a 97 f-150 and was wondering if I could put the leafs of an 03 F-250 in by simply bolting them in. I measured both sets and they are the same length.

I believe the measurements are good, but the 250 springs have a heavier load rating. If you dont mind the stiffer ride, you could handle more payload with them. What is the centering pin like on the the 250 springs? Is it a single pin like the 150?

More than likely all you will gain by doing this is an incredibly stiff rear suspension. A F-250 has more than stiffer suspension. It has a stronger frame, axles and brakes to handle the increased payload.

When I did my lift, my leafs were pretty beat up from years of hauling. A buddy had a 250 leaf pack he offered me. I declined. I dont think the disks between my vertebrae would have been psyched about that mod.

The light duty f250 springs will fit and the only difference is 1-2 extra leaves depending on how many you currently have which will stiffen it up a bit but not too much. The f250 super duty springs are wider with different measurements so unless you want to do some modding forget about those but you won't have any issues with light duty f250 springs.

taking into consideration all that these guys have said.

I am curious why you want to put the F-250 springs into your F-150

Thanks. I am looking to get a little more load out of it. My springs sag a little more than they should with a load on it and I do a lot of hauling. Any other suggestions on what to do?

an add a leaf kit would be another option. If you arent familiar- you add a new leaf to the bottom of your existing trio. They are usually under $100 for the pair of new springs. Often times you can get an additional 1.5-2.5" of lift in the rear as well. Check JC Whitney's online catalog- I saw some for our '97's for around 89 bucks.

I used to have a Ranger Splash. The suspension was great on the road, but was a bit too soft for hauling mulch or top soil. I installed one of these kits and solved the problem

Air bags. I put them on mine and haul a 36' fifthwheel camper with 1800# tongue weight and a loaded weight of 13000#.
