Ride rite air bag install

I just purchased A Ride Rite air bag kit and compressor set up for my truck and thought I would share some install pics. It took me about 5 hours after work. It was pretty easy but the custom fab in the dash took a bit longer than I expected. I didn't want to use the mounting bracket that comes with the kit so I did the scary, cutting of the dash. It turned out sick!!! Bags raise and lower with ease, picks up the sag on the trailer and with the quads in the back of the truck. I highly recommend.
Oh yea, I purchased mine from an online company at www.got-chrome.com, it was by far the cheapest price I found online or local. I ordered on a Saturday and it was here the following Tuesday. They emailed me tracking and were very on top of their sale. Total for bags, heavy duty compressor kit, gauge, toggle and shipping $506.00. Price could very depending on where the bags are being shipped to I suppose. I highly recommend this Got-Chrome!!!
Email me if you have any questions.

This is the 2 boxes it came in:

Taking off the bump stop:

Installing upper air bag bracket that gets bolted directly where the bump stop was:

Fixing the air bag to the bracket:

That looks great...do you have an air tank, or is the compressor directly feeding the bags?

bags

The compressor is feeding the bags only. I have a compressor in our trailer for the toys.
Thanks for all the support everyone.

i gotta say, this looks great... ive been wanting to do a custom mount with mine as well.... except i have a 4x4, so i cant put it where you did. i am running an edge unit, so i was thinking about getting a gauge pod and mounting it in the a-pillar up about mid way. i cant seem to find a single pod, so i think ill have to get an extra gauge, or modify it to a single pod. do you know by chance if the gauge with the bag kit is 2 1/16"?
it looks great !!!

Thanks for the pics Socal.

I installed these bags yesterday and it went really well.

It's comforting to read the instructions while you're looking at the pictures so you can relate it all to the bits and pieces you're holding in your hands.

It took me about 4 hours... 2 of which were consumed tightening those 8 really hard self-locking nuts onto the rediculously long bolts supplied with the kit. Seriously, if you had a power ratchet it'd cut this install in half; me... I look like Popeye this morning from the swelling in my forearms.

Oh... and I'd suggest dropping the spare tire out before you start. I figured out that I needed to drop it to run my air lines to the bumper (I didn't get the compressor kit) and, after I did, I wished I'd done it to give myself the extra room under there. You can practically sit up under the truck when the tire's out.

I also put on a set of Bilstein 5100's while I was under there. That was too easy.

Nice good clean install it looks great, just curious how much does it raise up the back when it is fully inflated?

Fully inflated?

These things will take 100psi. I've got 20psi in there (just to see if they'll leak down) and it lifted the back 2" or so. The way they're built, I'm not sure adding more air will make them any taller... just harder.

I plan on running 5 - 6psi unless I've got a load on.

man I would be afraid to fully inflate them that is a ton of psi for something so small, I`ve seen them on other trucks but just wasnt sure how much it really would pick the back up 2" is a pretty good bit, I`m sure it will help when your hauling a heavy load, thanks for the relpy good luck with the airbags

Thumps up !! Great install . I've got the same bags as well . I also noticed the extreamly long bolts. lol . I just figured out how lon gthey actually needed to be then cut them off before I installed them .Heres a pic https://www.f150online.com/galleries...000&anum=14512 I also cut the vertical bolts as well . The instructions also say remove the rear wheels . Theres no need in doing that . I installed mine with the wheels on . I also want to do a custom mount . Here's what I plan on doing . https://www.f150online.com/forums/me...ure-gauge.html Again great install !!
